MASS PRODUCTION WITH MISTI

Hi everyone, it’s Charlotte C visiting again.  I’m so delighted Sheila keeps inviting me back to be with you.  Earlier this year I posted about all the possibilities with the MISTI tool.  And while I’ve used it a zillion times, I wanted to share with you the ease of stamping on die cuts when you need to mass produce images that have two parts, like the ornaments and tops shown here. 

I made a template of each ornament by cutting each of them in a rectangle of card stock.  I placed the card stock in the lower left-hand corner of the MISTI.

Next I inserted the die cut itself like a puzzle piece into the template.  

Then I put my stamp, face down, onto the die cut, picked it up with my MISTI cover.

After I inked and stamped it, I slid the whole thing up to the top left-hand corner to position and stamp the ornament top.  

I didn’t take the stamps off the cover till I was finished with the first ornament, stamping the pink, sliding it up, stamping the silver, and then I did the same procedure for the other two die cut ornaments.

For my first card I stamped the swirly line and greeting on a 4 ½ x 6 ½ panel and ran it through my embossing machine before adhering the die cut ornaments.  Boy, was I happy embossing didn’t mess up the greeting.  The whole panel was then adhered to a 5 x 7 card.  All card stock is white, but doesn't look it for some reason.

I then made one layer cards, again 5 x 7, by positioning the closed card against the bottom left-hand corner and lining up all 3 ornaments on the card to be able to pick them up all at the same time with my MISTI cover.

I used a Sharpie marker on the outside of the cover to mark the position of the two ornaments I wasn’t going to stamp immediately.  My cover has a protective film over the grid lines and the Sharpie came off with some Novus cleaner, or you could use an alcohol wipe. 

After removing the two I wasn’t using right away, I stamped all the pink ornaments, came back, positioned the top and stamped in silver.  I then did the same thing with the other two.
I stamped my greeting, drew some strings and bows with a gold pen, put some Wink of Stella on the ornaments and tops, and I was done.

 Right now I only made a few of each card, particularly for this post, and I’m not sure which one I’ll continue to make.  Of course, the embossed one is prettier, but do I want to make all those little bows?

Card Party A Success

Hello, I am so happy you are joining me today to see all these beautiful cards. I have a video as well as photos of all the cards. Personally I like to see both, the video for more color and photos to pick up the detail. As you know I have been doing card parties with my friends now for over 3 years and we love it. I no longer buy cards as I have such a wide variety. Over the years we have grown by learning from each other. If we buy a new tool we bring it to the party to see how it works and to enable our friends to purchase more craft items! LOL

The card above was made by Laura and it is gorgeous.

This is an adorable card that Dorothy designed. I rubbed the front so you can see it was done with chalk.

Jennifer did the above card and the little frogs wobble! So much fun.

This card is designed by Patricia... we loved Patricia she made meatballs with bacon around the outside and brown sugar and sprinkled with red pepper. Don't kill me Patricia but I am typing this in Florida and the camera with your other card on it, It is on the video and you all have to see this card it is adorable.

                        

Jennifer made this card and the little cupcakes are from the dollar store and are made of felt. Cute.

Anita made this beautiful thank you card and I like that there is plenty of room on the inside to write a personal note.

Dorothy made this beautiful 5x7 note card the I can't ge to stand the right way.  The flowers are so pretty I had to do a close up of it.

This is the shaker birthday card I made and it is awesome and so easy when you make them with an Explore.

And Anita designed this beautiful birthday card.

And finally this birthday I did and had so much fun with. I love Anna Griffin's cartridges and use them a lot.

Thank You Veterans

Good Morning!  This is Christine from the iamcocoasmom blog sharing a special project with you today .

Like most Brits of certain age (!!!) both my parents served in WW2.  I grew up appreciating how different my life would have been had it not been for the service of those who fought.  I grew up witnessing the terrible physical and psychological effects of that service.

In many countries around the world, we will honor Veterans for their valor, their patriotism and the sacrifices they have made for all of us.   In Britain and other Commonwealth countries, the poppy symbolizes the service of our Veterans and people will proudly wear poppies on their coats and hang poppy wreaths on their doors.

So, today I am sharing a home decor piece which uses the poppy from the Cricut 3D Floral Home Decor cart on a simple frame from the Simply Sweet cart.

This particular flower has very few components and is easily put together.

 I am a firm believer in softening the fibers of the card stock petals with the ball roller on an old mouse mat.  I do this on the underside of the petals because I think it makes a more natural, softer flower.   I like to ink the edges and gently darken the center edge.  A nice 'blob' of liquid adhesive holds the rolled center in place and I have a plastic clamp that holds the pieces together until they are set.  Then I roll the petals around the barrel of the ball roller to add more dimension.

I embossed the cream card stock with one of my favorite embossing folders - the Anna Griffin Poppy folder.   I cut the frame twice and sandwiched the embossed card stock between the two frames for added strength.  The sentiment was written with the Explore using Soiree Lettering, Grace Script font.

My friend Gina is one of the most creative people I know.  She holds workshops all the time and provided the inspiration for these cards.  I'll be presenting 2 or 3 different cards for the next few blog posts.

Edges of  some cards and pieces of cardstock used are inked with complimentary color to add interest.  Use your imagination!  In the card above, the liquid glass comes in handy to glue on the clear plastic "holiday cheer" banner without leaving a visible residue after it dries.

This card uses a piece of Fern Cardstock cut at 1 ¼ ” (Real Dial) Shape <c> Page 33 of Artistry handbook.

Colonial White Cardstock is used on this card, Real Dial cut a 5” Shape <Christmas> Page 48 of Artistry handbook.  For added interest, emboss the cut with your favorite embossing folder.  This would also work with any of the large, solid color backgrounds.

Thankful

Happy November Sassy People!

The holiday season is upon us and I am super excited! This is my favorite time of the year! During the month of November, I like to take time to reflect on the year and show my thanks for the blessings that has been experienced through this year. While today’s project is not a traditional Thanksgiving or harvest craft, it still reflects thanksgiving and praise.

My mom asked me to make a card to give to her spiritual mentor and mother. The image is of a woman in praise and worship! Is that not being in the spirit of thanksgiving? I purchased the digital image from Robert Jackson and colored it using Copic markers. With using Copics, I do recommend purchasing the Hex Chart by Sandy Allnock. It has been a tremendous help blending color groups you may not think goes well together. 

Anywho, I used the Top Note die by Spellbinders and a Cuttlebug embossing folder (the name escapes my memory). The flowers are I Am Roses and the sentiment is from a set by Inkadinkado (Praise). Finally, I used shear ribbon from my stash.
