Using Your Scraps Is Not Always Easy

These cards are made from scraps from the Pillow Box I made last week. I have been trying to use up the scraps from my projects to make cards. I discovered that was easier said than done...
I planned my card making out at home. I cut all edges so I had straight edges then used the Cuttle Bug on the scraps that did not have a glitter finish of any type. I placed the scraps in indivdual envelopes so that I was ready to hit the table with my tape runner and a little Zip Dry glue but found it hard to decide where to put on the little rectangle pieces. This was a real challenge as I did not have my cricut to fall back on away from home.

I have started to make extra flowers on every project, thank goodness as I did have flowers to fall back on!
I used my Martha Stewart stamp that I just got at Michaels with my 40% off coupon!

I used the ribbon I purchased from Snowman Lover (it just came yesterday) that matched perfectly!
I even added a few flowers to the inside of the card!
And another flower on the envelope!
Close up of the paper and the embossing on the cards.
I spent 20 minutes packaging up and another 20 minutes putting together. I am low on cards so this is a great way to build my supply back up.
I challenge you to use your scraps from your projects for cards... try to make extra embellishments from your project while making your cricut cuts as it will make it a little easier to make cards. Not having embellishments was harder than I thought it would be so I will be making more embellies in the future!
I hope you enjoyed my project today.

  1. Sheila... you have the best pointers and I don't know anyone who comes close to using every second of their day in a constructive way the way you do!!! YOU ARE AMAZING!! Maybe someday I can get organized... but I have to admit... I find LOs way easier to create than cards... maybe once I move I will give it a go!!

  11. Sheila, I must say you and Paperscissors are definitely on your toes! Congratulations, as a runner up, I'll be making a flag book for you too!!! I'll need to know where to send it to. You can leave it in the comment under the post announcing the winner (I won't publish it, or you can send it to me in an email from the mb).

Congratulations again! However, I must say I'm totally shocked. I hadn't even finished answering a question I'd just gotten on how to play! LOL!

Have a great day! I'll be seeing you!

  12. Sheila, I must say I just can't believe what you did with those scraps!!!

However, I'm stopping back in to say congrats again, and if you didn't notice in my post, I need to make your book because I really didn't expect for the contest to be over and done just like "that"! I'll get your book out to you within the next couple of days! Right now I'm going to get away from this computer for a while (a few hours at least) because I'm a bit tired although I hate to admit it.

I'll let you know as soon as I drop it in the mail -- okay? Now, thanks for playing with me!

  14. lovely cards. And you are right, it's not always easy using up scraps! I've been trying to use up printed paper scraps because they don't get used if they go in the scrap box. At least with cardstock, I know I will use the colors up... but not the printed papers.
