Blog Candy And New Year Resolutions

Each year we reflect on the time gone by and decide what we need to change about ourselves. We make these long wonderful lists, go on diets and budgets and even resolve to spend more time with the family.... but do we follow through?

All of us are well intended but according to Wikepedia only 52% of participants setting goals were even confident in making them. 12% of the people actually achieved their goals and men were 22% more successful when setting their goals and women were 10% more successful if they made their goals public.
So that is what we need to do make our goals public to increase our success rate. Today I am going to ask you to list 1 resolution that you want to make as your goal for the year and post it as a comment so that I may help your odds of being successful. I am even going to encourage you with blog candy. SERIOUS though I want you to be Serious... a real goal not general. Example I am going to Dallas for the Circle swarm I have lost 16 pounds since October and I am making my goal for 10 pounds more by March 18th! I even give you permission to ask me my countdown number as I want to be successful, don't you?
What do you resolve to do in 2011? Tell us for a better chance to succeed as well as to have an opportunity to win this great blog candy! The Lyrical Letters cart will go to one lucky follower that has the courage to stand by her convictions and share her realalistic New Years Resolution! And don't worry we will all keep it a secret! NOT! Be sure to leave me your email address so I can reach you. Now be sure to leave your comment by 9PM CST January 1st, 2011 including your resolution complete with a date you will accomplish by and be a follower to qualify. Winner will be announced at 5:00AM on the 2nd.

  1. Because you were brave enough to share one of your goals, I'll share one of mine:

By January 25, 2011, I will have established an exercise routine that will allow me to be physically active 4x/week, 30 minutes each time. It's hard to find a way to incorporate workouts into my daily routine right now but it's becoming more and more important that I try.

I have many other goals for the year; even posted them on my blog not too long ago. Most are whole-year, though. I can't set an end-date for my 13-23 lbs because I know my body doesn't care about that. With that said, I was pretty proud that one goal I had for 2010 was to lose 40 lbs; and I managed to lose 60. I believe a big part of my success was in starting off with Project 365 to document the daily grind..... Too bad I didn't stick with the project.

  2. My resolution is to have my credit cards all paid off each month! I just achieved debt deliverance today and want to keep it that way. I'm pitching all the new catalogs before I look at them, but big online craft sales are not going to be my friend. My first challenge threshold will be April 1.

  11. My goal is to lose 30 pounds by Thanksgiving of 2011. I had pictures taken of my son and I this last Thanksgiving and I can't stand to share them because I look so large. This is the most I've weighed (including when I was pregnant). NO More!

  12. My goal is to do Project 12 this year. Obviously I won't be done until a year from today :). I'm going to make a word document to take notes every couple days. And when I have pictures I'll put that in my notes as well so that if I can't scrap right away I'll still have everything I need :). Thanks for a chance to win a prize. 16. My scrapping goal for 2011 is to do one layout a week. That will give me 52 layouts by December 31, 2011. I have some personal goals also, but do not have dates for them so I am not listing them here. Thank you for a chance to win. I love your blog

  17. Thank you a chance to win such a great giveaway. I've been thinking lately that I would really like to have that cart. One of my goals for 2011 is to keep up with cleaning the house and not let it slide until I am embarrassed to have anyone over (heaven forbid someone just drop in!). I plan to do at least 25-30 minutes of cleaning (including laundry) daily on the days that I am not out of town. I know this will make my husband very happy (and me, too, since I can never find anything anymore because of the mess). This goal does not have an end as it needs to be continuing.

  19. My goal is to save money this year. Which means I'm going to be cutting back on what I spend on crafting supplies so I'm going to be needing to use what supplies I have, like scraps and just old things that I had to have but, just haven't used.
So, I'm going to make it a resolution to make at least 1 project (something, anything) using some of my scraps and what nots. Then I will post it on my blog. So, I will kill two birds with 1 stone.
My scraps get used, so I save money and my blog will keep being updated at least once a week.

    Happy New Year

  21. I have two goals for 2011... These aren't resolutions as I don't believe in them, just goals. The first one is to complete my Israel trip scrapbook by the end of my spring break (Easter).
My second resolution is to begin losing the weight I regained. I lost 50 pounds 2 years ago, and have since gained it back. By the end of my spring break as well, I would like to be down 20 pounds. I will do this by getting back to my gym at least 3 times a week as well as doing Zumba at home at least twice a week. I'm also going to head back to Weight Watchers since that's how I lost it last time.

  22. I have a few goals this year. I had none last year - I didn't want to disappoint myself. :)~

So this year the list is long but very acheivable with the right additude and supportive friends like YOU!!

I plan to lose a total of 30+ pounds this year, 15 by Mid March.. yikes that sounds hard but I have it all planned out. :0) 1st off by getting more active on SparksPeople again, they actually have some Craft teams, so excited about that.

My second goal that I will publish is to MAKE AND POST 3 projects a week. I am challenging myself to more than that, but This WILL be my minimum. As I know some weeks will be more hectic than others.

Most of all, I want to LEARN MORE this year!! So I will be spending more time working on developing myself both intellectually and creatively.

I feel like I have learned so much this past year but I have so much more learning to do! Do we ever really stop learning? Anyhow, I think I have taken enough space here.. :)

Big Hugs to you Sheila for the wonderful opportunity to help us all be more SUCCESSFUL!!!

    Happy New Year!!

  33. Well, I made a resolution to never make another resolution years ago. With that being said, I still make goals. Goals are something you strive for, but don't guilt if you don't make them.

A couple of my goals for 2011 are: 1) Succeed at my crafting. My mother and I are going together to make some things. I really want to do well and make a name for ourselves around here. 2)Be able to find another teaching position for next school year. I am a teacher without a job this year. I was the only teacher not re-hired last year. I need to find a position around home. We do not want to move again. We LOVE being this close to our 4 nieces. 3)Become a foster parent. We want to foster to adopt.

  36. My goal for the new year, well actually it is a demand from my family!. To ask for help instead of doing it myself, to not be so "bullheaded".
I am disabled and I have a problem asking for help or having someone else do "things" for me. (my mother raised me to never depend on others, to do it myself)
So I guess I will give it a try this new year.

  42. I don't make a lot of resolutions because the more you make the less likely you are to keep them. But my main ones this year are to spend more time in daily devotions and strengthen my faith. My scrappy goal is to make at least 2 - 2 page layouts a week and also to make ALL of my own cards this year. I almost completed that last year but I did buy a few cards. So 2011 is ALL handmade cards. Hope you all have a Happy Happy New Year papermemories4u at yahoo dot com

  55. Dear Shiela,

Thank you so much for allowing this great forum. I know I am a bit late in writing this down, but my goals are to:

Get more exercise and I have enrolled in classes, so made a commitment to this.
Eat healthier food - just finished the revamp of the pantry and freezer and got a box of goodies to take to the charity shop.
De-clutter - I have already started on my wardrobe and 5 rubbish bags later feel much better.
I need to tackle my craft room next and work on reducing the number of half finished projects and items on the bench and reorganising my storage.
I also have a goal to use all my craft acquistions in 2011.
On an academic goal frame, I aim to get at least 6 A's this year (up from 5 last year).

And mostly, to keep a gratitude journal as I have so much to be grateful for and am so fortunate, but life intrudes now and then and when hurdles come, make everything seem so much worse, and I am hoping that by acknowledging the things I can be grateful for might help with these hurdles and reduce the stress and heartache that they cause.

Wishing everyone a blessed and wonderful and successful 2011 and thank you again for this great idea.

    With lots of love
    Jen
