Candle Box

Hello crafty friends, Leah from Paper Blossoms here! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! Ours was filled with family and focusing on the amazing gift of God's love. I wanted to share one of the handmade gifts I gave this year, a box filled with stamped votive candles. I purchased a Silhouette cut file for this box which is designed to hold cookies and thought it would be a good home for the candles. I stamped the candles using the tissue paper technique. I have a tutorial here if you'd like to see.
My entire box was hand stamped using Inspired By Stamping Delicate Doilies along with some gold heat embossing. I added a tag with a little winter blessings sentiment from Holiday Tags and a poinsettia flower with some lace ribbon to finish it off. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week recovering from the celebrations! Thanks for stopping by :)

Merry Christmas

I had to share a photo of our tree. My grandchildren Justin-7 and Sydney-6
decorated it for me! Didn't they do good? I added a couple of the glitter
ornaments and they did the rest! They love helping.

We wish you a Blessed Christmas

filled with love, laughter, friends and family.

May your table be heaped with delicious holiday foods

that thrill and excite your appetite.

May your tree be adorned with lights and ornaments,

Presents abounding beneath its limbs,

surrounded by those you love.

Be blessed this year by the virgin birth

of the babe who came to earth

so many long years ago...

Sweet Treat Card

Hi everyone! Sandy here from A Working Mom's Joy. I am excited to share today's tutorial with you!

Are we all ready for Christmas? I thought I was until I realized that I didn't have a little something for the kiddos teacher (the night before the last day of school before break this weekend, oops). So I decided to make a quick sweet-treat card for them.

How to make a Sweet- Treat Candy Card

Here is what you will need:
trimmer, bone folder, ribbon, scissors, craft knife, cardstock 8 1/2x11, score tape and candy

First you will score at 3cm, 6cm, 9cm and 12cm horizontally and then turn paper vertically and score at 3cm, flip and score other side at 3cm

Next, cut at score lines to 3cm vertical fold and then trim off to the first score line. See photo below.

In the second column, you are going to make your window.

After you make your window (I just used my trimmer), You will add the score tape to the last column and the bottom backside of the second column tab, see below.

Now go ahead and start to fold over the score lines to make your box and fold bottom tabs to close the bottom.

Now because I didn't use a piece of clear acetate, I went ahead and using my craft knife, made a slit in the middle of my card base for my ribbon to slide through.

Go head and add your candy, You can see below that 4 pieces work great.

Now add your finished card to you box base and tie your ribbon to help hold the candy in place (worked like a charm)

For this card, I added a small tag to embellish the sweet treat box part.

Very easy to make and is a little different from the tea light cards.

Here are my three finished cards...

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hop over to Scrapbook Blessings Club to check out the current challenge: any project with a tag on it. Kenny K is the challenge sponsor and it will end Friday at midnight.

Our Christmas Tree

Hi Everyone,

Lisa from Lisa's Craft Room here to share something with you this month. I first have to apologize to Sheila and to you all because I picked up a second job working nights to make extra money and I have had no time at all to craft, as you can see from my blog. I just have enough time to come home from my day job, have a quick bite to eat, change and off I go. So please forgive me for not having a handmade project for you today.

I decided I would take a picture of our tree and post it for all to see. We used to have real trees for years, I loved the smell. Then we purchased a fake tree and used that for a couple of years, then last year my husband said why don't we just get a little table top tree. I really wasn't crazy about it because I liked the big trees, but when we bought it and decorated it, I thought it was so cute. I am still using ornaments from when my son was little and ornaments that we've gotten over the years. I really do like it and I'm thinking next year I will decorate it differently. Maybe, with just balls and ribbon. Something really pretty and more adult like, since my son is an adult now :) We will see.

Thank you so much for understanding. I didn't want to not post anything, so I hope this is ok :) I do have cute things that I want to make for next month. So, I will give myself plenty of time to get them done. Thanks Sheila :)

One More Christmas Card! Featuring Joys Of The Season

Hello Crafty Friends! Welcome to She's A Sassy Lady!

I am Donna Lee from Stampin N Scrapin With Donna Lee. Thank you Sheila for inviting me to share here today!

Today I want to share just one more Christmas card that is easy to make using the Joys Of The Season Cricut cartridge.  I've cut the Rocking Horse card on the page below at 5.37 inches using my Gypsy.

I set the width of my card to 8.5 inches and the Gypsy set the height for me. Cricut Craft Room will do the same.

Using my Gypsy, I was able to size my rocking horse to fit perfectly over the cut out on the front on my card. My rocking horse and it's layers are all cut at 1.75 inches. I cut the blackout, shadow, and the layers.  On the layers I used the hide contour feature to hide different pieces so that I could cut the tail and mane in a different color. Below is a picture of all my layers.

I use a Scor Pal to score my card base.

I used a piece of DCWV glitter card stock behind the window. This gets covered up on the inside of the card.

Now it's time to adhere the layers of the rocking horse. For these small pieces I prefer to use my glue pen or Tombow Liquid Mono Adhesive.

The brown shadow has dimensional adhesive on it to pop it up just a little bit. I used Stampin Dimensionsals from Stampin Up as it's the perfect height.

His saddle, bridle, mane, tail and the accent piece are next. They are cut from DCWV card stock. I was able to use my scraps for all of this card, except for the card base.

For my sentiment I went to Close To My Heart Artbooking Cricut Collection. It's cut at 4.25 inches. I did not use real dial size. It's cut using scraps of Recollections Foil paper from Michaels.

A good glue pen is best way to adhere this.

Thank you for stopping by She's A Sassy Lady today! I wish you all a very blessed and Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Blessings and Peace,
Donna Lee

Rosettes, Rosettes, Rosettes!

Hi everyone.  Karon here from Karon's Krafty Korner.  My turn to visit you all here at Sheila's blog.  May I start by wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and joys of the season.  Thanks Sheila, for letting me visit each month.

On my blog recently, I made a rosette Christmas Tree, and whilst trying to work out lengths of paper, diameter of finished rosette, etc etc I thought I would put together a useful little table and rule of thumb.

Apparently, the rule of thumb to make a nice size rosette is to take the diameter that you want your finished rosette to be, multiply this by 4 and this will be the length of paper you need to pleat.  Also the width of the paper is to be half the diameter of the finished rosette.

So, for example,  if you want a 6" rosette - the width of your paper strip needs to be 3".  The length of your strip is to be 4 x 6" (the finished diameter), 24" in length, so two strips of 12" connected.

So, once you have your strips of paper ready, you will need to score them.  I found for the bigger rosettes, I scored every 1/4" for the smaller rosettes every 1/8" worked well.

I am going to make a four inch (diameter) rosette.  So, I have two strips of paper one 12" and one 4" for a total of 16" in length.

I find this works for me.  First place your paper right side up on the score board and score every 1".  Then flip it over and score every 0.5".

Now, you can fold this strip.  Start right side up and start with a valley fold and you will end with a valley fold.

Now, when I was trying to find out how to make a rosette (I had never made one before - I know, sad isn't it!), the only tutorials I could find were all saying "after scoring cut this little strip off the both ends in order to connect the two pieces of paper properly."  Like below! Doing it this way though, you are cutting off 0.5" of length and then when you join them another 0.5".

However, I found when I was experimenting, that if you just flip the second strip of paper before scoring, then you do not need to take off any little pieces.  See below.

Flip over and score every 0.5"

Now with your second strip scored, you will start with a mountain fold and end with a mountain fold.

So now you have the two strips folded, one with a valley and one with a mountain fold, you can connect them. And you only lose 0.5" instead of the 1" off the length when connected.

It's all in the fold.  When you score the card stock, (I'll show you on the white side as it's clearer), your indents are valley and mountain.  However, you actually fold the opposite way!  So if your score line is valley, you actually mountain fold it and vice a versa.  This stops the card stock from tearing :-)

Connect the ends to form your circle and then press down to make your rosette - securing with a circle and I use hot glue :-)

I have also put together a table for rosette sizes, diameter, width of paper and length of strips needed and hope you find this useful.  If you already have something like this, then I apologise, but at least it is a permanent record for me :-)
