Hello,
everyone. It’s Charlotte C, and I want
to tell you I am in love with this new Cricut cartridge and the effect it has,
because only certain parts of the image are cut and pop up so you can see
through to the background layer. I’ll
admit when I first saw it as part of my subscription to Design Space I was
totally confused because there’s often several ways the images are presented. (If you don’t have an Explore, the cartridge
is now available for sale. See below.) You have choices with this cartridge as to
making a card as shown in Design Space, or just cut the image already attached
to a shape, or take the image itself and attach it to your own shape to either
cut or draw it – yes, draw it.
For my
tri-fold birthday card I cut two 5 x 7
card bases and attached them together because I wanted a large card for my
daughter-in-law. I sized my Dimensional
Paper Art image of the flowers to fit the front, added the text, and attached
everything to a 4 ½ x 6 ½ rectangle. My
Explore cut the flowers, cut the rectangle and wrote the sentiment in gold
marker all at the same time. Using the
point of my bone folder and one of the Cricut tools I pushed the cutout parts
of the image from the back to give it that dimensional look, then I layered it
on top of gold foil card stock before placing it onto the card base. My next inside fold was written by the
Explore – and don’t you just love the lady?
She’s from Art Deco. I did a
print then cut of the lady, but cut all the green in glitter card stock and
layered it on to bling her up. You can
see in the third photo the three sections of the card.
For this
sympathy card I used three different flowers and the Explore again wrote the
sentiment and cut the images and card stock, which I created by randomly
swirling and brushing three colors of Distress Ink across it before putting it
on the Cricut mat.
This octagon card has a front layer that has cut clouds, but the bird is drawn with
a marker (and quickly and not expertly colored in by me with distress markers).
This
cartridge makes the quickest cards with “wow” appeal, I think, and it is available for
sale as of 8/6, which means you won't need an Explore to create anything. And there are suggested sizes in the
handbook, which you can find at cricut.com/handbooks. I can’t
wait to cut more images.
Thank you,
Sheila, for welcoming me here once again.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of the Dimensional Paper Art
cartridge. Happy crafting!
