Halloween Glass Block

Hi everyone, I am LaShavia from thecraftypinkbutterfly.blogspot.com. This is my first post of hopefully many more and I am kind of nervous but here I go. First I want to thanks Sheila for giving me this opportunity and being so nice and helpful to a new blogger like me.
I thought that I would start with something Halloween so we can all get our decorating started.
The block started of clear (from ACMoore) so I used Rust-Oleum Frosted Glass spray to give the glass block the frosted look.

To decorate the block I used Avery clear sticker paper (from Walmart) in my Imagine to color and cut my images.
For the Happy Halloween I used Celebrate with Flourish for the cuts and All Wrapped Up for the color cut at 2 inches.
The tree is also from Celebrate with Flourish, colored with All Wrapped Up cut at 4 inches.
The last cut is from Holiday Cakes also colored with All Wrapped Up cut at 1.2.
It was so easy to put the cuts on the block I did not need to use transfer paper.
Once I good all the pieces on the block I put a sting on battery operated lights in the block (see picture above, got them from ACMoore).
So there is my first project, I hope you like it and please go over to my blog to follow me and check everything out. I am new so any comments or advice you can give me would be appreciated.
I also want to give a big thank you to Bobby , the Sassy dude for all his help and advice.
Thanks and I will see you next time.

Sassy Witch Project...

Hey Ya'll,
Well, today is another Sassy Dude Project from Cricut Couple.  Sheila let me have an extra spot this month.  Now, over on our blog on the 22nd, we had some blog candy which is the adorable Wicked stamp set.  So... I figured I would use it here and show you how I made up my papers for this card.
So, to make this card, I used Happy Hauntings and Close To My Heart's Art Philosophy cartridge.  This is actually very simple to do.  I simply stretched the frame cut from Happy Hauntings so that it would fit on this card.  The card is 8 1/2" by 5 1/2".  Below are how the cuts look on the mat.  For this design, you will want to leave the paper on the mat for a bit.
I simply used black and white card stock for this design.  It's probably not easy to see in the picture, but the black has the oval opening cut out and the white is the base layer.  The skulls for the corners are also on the bottom of the white side.
For the black side, I used a metallic copper ink and a craft sponge.  I simply tapped the craft sponge on the in and then tapped it over the black frame until I was happy with it.  The same applies to the white frame.  I used a dark yellow, rust and lime green ink... tapping one color at a time until I was happy with it.  I then tapped black over the skulls.  For the next picture, you will probably have to blow it up to see the detail.  I do a lot of painting and I wanted to have this spider web in the background.
To create the spider web, I just took a very thin liner brush, dipped it in water to moisten it and then ran it across a black ink pad.  Then I just free handed the webs and the little spider.  You could do this with your markers if you are more comfortable, but I am more comfortable with a brush.
I then used the sort of honeycomb stamp that came with the set and stamped the top right and bottom left corners.  I then used Cocoa ink on the witch.  When the witch is dry, I then took a black fine tipped marker and detailed a couple of extra places on the witch. You should be able to see that detail if you blow up the picture too.  I then used black ink on all edges of the white frame.
When everything was dry, I put it all together.  I didn't think about the top layer oval, so when I put it together, I lost my little spider that I painted, but oh well.  Hee! Hee!  The Wicked Halloween is also from this adorable stamp set, inked in Cocoa after it was tapped with ink like the main background.  This is a tag shape from the CTMH cartridge.  I used 3D adhesive to stand up the layers and the skulls.
I cut my background mats at 8 1/4" x 5 1/4".  I added the purple in the center.  It was cut 3" x 8".  I also stamped this cat (don't like cats) on a scrap white piece of card stock and cut my sentiment mat.  I used a rounded corner punch on the corners and inked everything in cocoa ink.  I really think this witch is pretty sassy, so it had to be used for this extra design day.  Besides, it's the Giveaway plus the font set!
Ok... So before I go, I would like to invite you back tomorrow as our new friend Shakey will be premiering her first guest design spot, right here, on She's a Sassy Lady!  If you want, you can go ahead and visit Shakey's Blog at The Crafty Pink Butterfly!  Thanks so much for visiting today.  We would love to know what you think of the card today and would really love it if you stopped by our blog for a visit at Cricut Couple!

Another Banner

Hi everyone, Beth from thunderbirdlindybydesign here to show you my entry for the new HSN Banner Contest that Provocraft had for another launch of the E2 last Monday 9-26.  You need to make a banner that spells CRICUT.  I made 2 banners and this is the second one.  I started with my Imagine and using a fall paperstack I got last year, and flower shoppe cricut cart, I cut 5 sets of  flowers that were 3 inches for the bottom layer and then all the corresponding layers.  I layered them and set them aside.

I then took Straight from the Nest and did Layer Shadow on the Leaves, sized them to 5.15 real dial size and cut 4, I ran them thru my Sizzix with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I set these aside.  I used the same cut and cut out of cream and gold cardstock smaller leaves.  I cut a whole 12x12 page of these and set them aside.

I used Country Life to create the Banner Base, Glittered the edges of white crepe paper and pleated them into Rosettes using a needle and thread.  Using CTMH Art Philosophy I cut 6 labels sized to 2.67 wide x 1.66.  I ran these thru my Sizzix. I cut the words Cricut out of shimmer cardstock from the same stack using CTMH Art Philosophy.  I attached all this to each banner.  I strung the banner on thin ribbon and then cut addnl leaves that I ran thru my Sizzix to the top of the banner using hot glue.  I set this aside.

Using Sweet tooth Boxes, I cut the ice cream cone in 3 different sizes and put them together to look like pumpkins. I took the cone part of the ice cream cone and sized it much smaller then the scoop cuts, I assembled it and used as the stems on the pumpkins.  After the "pumpkins" were assembled.  I inked all of the sticky out edges.  When the pumpkins were all done, I tied raffia in bows and glued to each stem.  I set these aside.

After I had all the pieces cut, it was time to assemble my wreath.  I took ribbon and made the bow at the top.  Wired and hot glued it to the wreath.  Then the pumpkins were glued to the bottom to resemble a pumpkin patch.  I started adding flowers and the small leaves to cover the gaps the pumpkins made.  I attached 2 of the larger leaves to each side of the pumpkin/flower patch.  I finally added the banner last.  I felt it was missing something at this point, so I gathered more rafia and glued in bunches at each end of the "patch".

I hope you like my entry.  Please disregard the paper towel that is stuck in the bow, I took the pics of the wreath in the car on the way to the post office.  I did not want the bow to get crushed on the way to Utah.
I was please how it turned out, and would like to have kept if for my house.  Thanks Sheila for having me as a guest designer today.  Until next time, Beth.

Beautiful And Easy Christmas Cards

I just love this vintage Christmas card and it was so easy to make you will love it! In one hour I made six beautiful cards that are ready for me to stamp the perfect sentiment in.

The first thing I did was went to Google images and did a search on vintage Christmas. I picked out an image I liked and printed it on card stock.

Then I cut out the image.

Cut out my card base making a standard A2 size card from craft paper that I purchased from Joann's.

I got out my distress ink and went to work.

I inked around all the edges of the artwork giving it a worn look.

And I even inked the craft paper base so it would blend well.

I then used the twine from My Craft Spot, it went just perfectly with the papers and gave the card a more finished look at the image did not go edge to edge in the width. This was the perfect solution.
This is the completed card and I just love it!

And look at this in only one hour I have six beautiful cards. The best part is I made them on my lunch hour at work! I was figuring I need to give up about eighteen lunches before Christmas and I will have all my cards made... two more and I can have them addressed too!
I hope you enjoyed today's post and it gave you an idea for a card that you too can make in no time at all.
Thank you for your sweet sweet words of encouragement. Your comments continue to inspire me to keep sharing with you.

Candy Corn Craze

Hey Y'all! Happy Monday! Aymee Gandy of A Scraphappy Southernbelle here with you on this beautiful day to share a few cards I have created. Can you believe October is almost upon us? I love October! Not only is it my birthday month, but Halloween is near too! I love Halloween! All the kids dressed up in their cute costumes, the festive decorations, and the delectable candy make it so much fun!!! I have already put out our Halloween decorations in our home and it got me in the mood to create. My all time favorite candy during this time of year has got to be candy corn. It's so sweet, colorful, and just perfect! So with visions of candy corn dancing around in my head, I swooped down over my scrappy studio and got to scrappin'!! Here is what I came up with:

"Let's Paint The Town"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Bazzill Basics Paper
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Ribbon: Hobby Lobby
Rhinestones: Queen & Co.
Stamp: Studio G
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Colored Pencils: Crayola
Corner Punch: EK Success
Electronic Cutter: Cricut Expression
Cartridge: Slumber Party
Font: Allison's Hand

I started out by cutting this card base from the 'Slumber Party' cartridge. I then cut 3 bottles of nail polish from the same cartridge and added 'candy corn' colored paint to the inside of each. I stamped the candy corn underneath that and colored those in with my colored pencils. I'm not much of a artist when it comes to coloring in stamped images, but I tried my best! I used pop dots to pop up the bottles of nail polish for added dimension. I also added some rhinestones to the bottles. I finished off the card with some black ribbon.

Here is a closer view of my bottles. I wonder what people would think if I painted my toenails in these colors? Would they think I'm crazy?! Tee Hee! Probably so! But how festive would that be?!
I used my Microsoft Word program on my computer to type up my sentiment for the inside of the card. I printed it out onto some white cardstock and added it to the inside with coordinating patterned paper.
"Candy Corn Cupcake"
Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Bazzill Basics Paper
Twine: My Craft Spot
Rhinestones: Queen & Co.
Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries)
Electronic Cutter: Cricut Expression
Cartridge: From My Kitchen
Software: Cricut Gypsy
Embossing Machine: Cuttlebug
Embossing Folders: Swiss Dots, D'Vine Swirl

What Halloween would be complete without a candy corn colored cupcake? I used my Gypsy and the 'From My Kitchen' cartridge to make this shaped card. I added a bit of embossing for texture.
I added Stickles to the cupcake liner and the cherry for some shine.
"Candy Corn Kisses, Halloween Wishes"

Supplies Used
Cardstock: The Paper Studio
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts With A View
Trim: source unknown (got these at a discount store called Surplus City)
Rhinestones: Queen & Co.
Thread: Coats & Clark
Stamp: My Craft Spot
Ink: Stampin' Up!
Electronic Cutter: Cricut Expression
Cartridge: Smiley Cards
Software: Cricut Gypsy

For this card, I cut out a large piece of candy corn using the Smiley Cards cartridge on my Gypsy. I then layered a mixture of yellow, orange, and white trim over the top of it to create a unique piece of candy corn. I also did a bit of stitching with my sewing machine. This card was really simple and came together in about 20 minutes.
I stamped the inside of the card with a stamp from Kimberly over at 'My Craft Spot.'
I love the texture the trims give! I wish I could take all of you scrappers with me to this store called 'Surplus City' in my town! Y'all would have a fit! There is an aisle about 50 yards long STUFFED with trim, ribbon, lace, etc. It is like a scrappy heaven! LOL
I hope you have enjoyed these 'candy corn' themed projects and that they will inspire you to create some of your own! Have a safe Halloween!

Happy Scrappin'!!!

Gypsy Made Simple - Wedding Accordion Card

Good Morning! I had to scrap lift another card! The basic design of this card is scrap lifted from Bobby Hardgrave of the Cricut Couple.... we know him here as the Sassy Dude Well a couple of weeks ago Bobby made this wonderful accordion card and I knew it was meant to be a Gypsy Made Simple project! A card this good we just had to make! Bobby did a beautiful card that was pretty complex so I thought I would use the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Sassy)system so we could all do this wonderful card in just a few easy steps.
I decided to do a wedding card as I am going to Chicago in for a friends wedding. I can't wait as we will be able to visit with friends and family. Now if you don't need that type of card then please make something that will work well for your needs.
So let's grab a cup of coffee, turn your Gypsy On and let's get to work.

Now wasn't that easy? Remember you can change out anything about this card to fit your needs you just need a window. I decided to leave the heart open on both sides as I was intrigued by the accordion shape and wanted to see it on both sides.

Now before we get into putting this card together let's get the accordion piece ready.
I took a 4.75x12" sheet of paper and placed it on my scoreboard. I scored the
paper every 1/2 inch. Then I flipped the paper over moved the paper over 1/4"
to make life easy and then scored every 1/2 inch once again.

I then folded the paper and set it aside until I was ready to assemble the card. I have to tell you my hands hurt by the time I finished doing this. I decided next time I am using velum as I think it would be prettier and a lot easier to fold that the heavy card stock I used.

Now let's put this card together. I can't wait to see it done. The colors I chose was to match the bride's colors and I just love the glitter paper that I have with this, don't you?

Now wasn't this an easy card? And so pretty. I know this is going to be one of my go to cards to make for weddings in the future... simple and elegant.
Now it is your turn. I challenge you to make an accordion card and link it up. Everyone wants to see what yours looks like. I know, let's make this interesting. I have a set of stamps that I will give away to one of the individuals that link up their card. The card must be linked by 3pm on Friday September 30th and the winner chosen using Random.org and will be announced on Saturday October 1st! Good luck and let's see those cards!

Thank you for joining us today. And thank you for your sweet sweet words of encouragement. Your comments continue to inspire me to share. See you next week.
