Card in a Box (X-tra large)

Happy Friday Everyone!!  I hope you are having a Fab-Scraptic Day!! It's Danita from http://danitasdesigns.blogspot.com/

I finally braved the waters and tried my hand at the latest craze-----Card in a Box. You can see my very first one here on my blog. This is my second attempt.

I was a bit intimidated until I found one in the Silhouette Store. It's a Lori Whitlock Box Card. I figured I would fare much better letting my machine do the cutting and measuring. I like big cards! With that being said, I decided to venture out to see if I could make a larger one, and I did! Here's one I did for my friend who is a teacher as well as a cheerleading coach. You may actually see it before she does. It's been hard to catch up with her lately.

The actual size folded up is 8 x 7

Side 2
Here's how I made it:
I started out by increasing the size of the design in the Silhouette store to 17 inches wide and 7 inches high. Using a 12 x 24 mat I cut out the box using The DCWV 12 x 24 inch card stock. My friends and I picked up a couple packs of these a few years ago when T.J. Maxx was clearing them out for $5.50 each. I always knew they would come in handy one day! lol.
Here's the layout in Design Studio with the 2 inserts. You can see Lori's video on how to assemble here:

I did not realize, until I had cut out the box, that this particular cardstock is adhesive backed!. So I had to decorate each side to keep them from sticking together.
I didn't mind though, it was fun putting the colors together. Here are the 2 covered inserts
Once I had all my adhesive sides decorated, I began the construction:
You then add your cut-outs, flowers or whatever embellishments you like to finish.
Here's the box folded up. Now keep in mind, the folded box card is 8 x 7 so you will need a large envelope for mailing.
Thanks for stopping by!

Mommy's Baby Boy

Hello Everybody!!  Leslie here from scrapnlifeaway.blogspot.com and today it is my pleasure to share here at She's A Sassy Lady!!  I am so grateful to be part of the DT, thank you Sheila!!  Well, last month I shared a baby girl page, so it's only fair that this month I share a baby boy page!

My goal, now that my craft space is almost complete, is to use more of what I have on hand!  When I start a page, I like to lay out the papers to see how well they play off of each other!

Then I start cutting things up!  These pages are for an 8x8 album (there is a special story behind the making of this!) so I was limited as to how much I could embellish!  In my humble opinion (lol) I like to mat my pictures on black cardstock because it really can make your photos pop!!  The journaling was printed on plain white printer paper, I just changed up the colors on a few words to make it cute for a baby boy!

I really loved this journal spot!!  If you are making a little girl layout, you can just change the font color to what ever works with the colors in your layout!  And here is the final product:

The title was cut using George on my Cricut at .75 and the flowers were from my stash!  So this layout cost me nothing to make!  Everything I used were materials that I had on hand!  I hope that this project inspires you to create something special!  And if you want to know the story behind this layout, please stop by my blog at scrapnlifeaway.blogspot.com!  Have a great day everybody!!

A Box of Inspiration

Howdy!  Adrienne Kirkey here from Eagle Canyon Arts.  Thanks to Sheila for having me as guest designer today.

Last week I went to a workshop hosted by Gina Brandstetter.  We made these great boxes and filled them with five different cards stamped with Bible inspirations from the "Look To The Light" collection (B1428).

Supplies needed:
Colonial White Cards and Envelopes (Value Pack - X1410)
Journaling Box (Z1953)
Ivy Lane Paper Pack (X7178B)
Ivy Lane Complements (X7178C)
Bitty Sparkles (Z1263)
Bamboo Ink (Z2103)
Smokey Plum Ink (Z2147)
Look To The Light Stamp (B1428)
Ivy Lane Complements (X7178C)
Ivy Lane Paper Pack (X7178B)

Look To The Light Stamp (B1428)

The measurements for folding paper to cover the journaling box are here.

The cricut cuts are as follows:

"I CAN DO ALL THINGS...." - Ivy Lane Purple Cardstock - Artiste 2 1/2" Accent 1 <I LOVE YOU> Bamboo Cardstock - Artiste  2 1/4" Accent 1 <I LOVE YOU>

"Come Unto Me......"   Art Philosophy - 1 1/4" <Shape3>

I don't have measurements for the papers on the cards or for the paper backing for the "flower" on the box.  When making new cards, I'll have to "wing it".

Pictures of the completed project:
Covered Journaling Box, to hold cards
"Come Unto Me All Who Labor"
"Cast Thy Burden Upon The Lord"
"I Can Do All Things Through Christ"
"God Is Our Refuge and Strength"
"Thy Word Is a Lamp Unto My Feet"
The Collection
This project was lots of fun.  Since all the paper pieces were pre-cut for us, the entire project took 2 hours.  When figuring out all the measurements and creating the pieces "from scratch" it will likely take double the time.  I have ordered all the supplies to make MORE of these great little boxes and fill them with cards - they will be terrific gifts!

Thanks for joining me on this project.  Enjoy Spring, create something wonderful every day!  Blessings, Adrienne

Gratitude Jar

I am so excited to be featured at She's A Sassy Lady today!!  Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway with a Gratitude Jar that I decorated for a friend.

I have a friend who is a scrapbooker, but she doesn't own an electronic die cutter.  I cut out things for her all the time when we go to crops together as well as share my extra cuts.  I never mind making cuts for her because she doesn't ask too often, so when she asked me to cut some vinyl I jumped at the chance to help her!!

She bought this jar at the beginning of this year to make a Gratitude Jar.  Her word for 2014 is Gratitude and she is including her family - which is super cool!!

The jar was blank and she asked me for my input.  I came up with a few designs on my cameo:
With a teenage son, the middle option was quickly ruled out!!!  The option on the right was too tall.  In order for the letters to look good on the option on the left, I added a greenery branch/wheat top to fill the extra space where the second "t" was.  I really liked it once I got it together!!
I cut it out of black vinyl to match the chalkboard sticker on the opposite side.
I did a similar jar in 2013 but it was for me not my entire family.  This may be great for us next year!!  What are you grateful for?  I am grateful today for the sun shining, my son's arm is healing nicely from his surgery, and my husband is not travelling this week!!!

Happy Christmas: April Christmas Card Inspiration

Hi everyone!  It's Sonya here today from Sonya's Paper Trail....is anyone making holiday cards all year long like I am?  This is my second year of spreading the holiday card making process out throughout the year and I enjoy it so much more than being flooded with card making at an already busy time of the year.  The card I have to share with you today is one of my favorites so far!

Check it out:

Once again, this is a card design that could very easily be repeated over and over--and it uses up some scraps!  The paper I used is Echo Park Tis The Season.  It's become one of my favorite lines of holiday paper and I'm not wasting any scraps of it.

I had to show you the glitter "berries" I added to the grapevine wreath.  I simply added some dots of Stickles for some added shine.

Materials used on this card:

Cardstock - SU
Patterned Paper - Echo Park
Remarkable Wreath Stamps - CTMH
Sentiment stamp - My Craft Spot "MistleToe"
Inks - SU
Other - Stickles
Die Cut Doily Shape - Silhouette Online Store

I hope you have a great day!  Thanks for joining us here at She's a Sassy Lady!

Dinosaur Window Card

Welcome to She's A Sassy Lady. Sheila here sharing this adorable little card that I shared at our card party on Sunday. I used Create A Critter and the Art Philosophy carts. I designed the card on Cricut's CCR.

Now wasn't that easy to put together?  And the card is darling and you know my grandson is going to love it!

Here is the card completed, don't you just lot the window with the circles. This is a Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Like all my cards I made them 2 up so there would be no wasted space on my paper and I can use the other card for an additional birthday card in the future.

I wanted to share how neat the inside of this card is.... no rough edges and it looks so cute.

Now remember I shared this card as a card party card so I cut 10 of these little cards and the girls loved them. As a matter of fact two of the girls needed girl cards so they added pink bows and a diamond necklace.

I hope you enjoyed my post today. Thank you for your sweet sweet words of encouragement. Your comments continue to inspire me.
