My Card class

Hello everyone! Java Jen here from JAVA JEN CREATIONS. Thanks again, Sheila, for allowing me to share here! Recently I introduced a card class that I am offering in my home and I thought I would share the 3 types of cards here. I kept the designs simple to make it easy for participants to assemble. I'm keeping some of these cards on hand for when I need a quick card! 

In my class, participants will be making 5 of each card. Thank You, Get Well and Happy Birthday.

This is one of my favorite cards because the embossed layer gets ripped and then adhered with the Cricut bandages adhered on top of that! Isn't it fun??

The birthday cards are fun because I picked 5 different colors for the stamped layer and added an embossed layer. I think the participants will have fun learning these simple but impressive techniques!

SPARKLY B-DAY WINDOW CARD

Forever Young and Pretty

For the feminine woman who loves pink, flowers, birds and sparkle, this card knocked it out of the park on all points.  Two Fall birthdays in my family are for women I dearly love; my sister and my daughter. I made two different versions of the card to suit their individual personalities. Here is the first one.

I've been making a lot of cards lately with various kinds of windows. For this large window style, the inside has to be just as pretty as the front.

Card size is 5-3/4" square.

The window is a sturdy acrylic that I embossed with birds and leaves (perfect for my gardener recipient).

The cardstock I used for the front frame and inside verse are both from DCWV Cherry Limade Stack. The selections in this book are all beautiful -- some have foil accents, some have glitter. Sparkly model on the front is cut from DCWV Glitzy Glitter, and it surely IS that! The hardest part was choosing one from the many great options!

I was inspired to make this card by Sheila, of She's a Sassy Lady blog. Sheila shared a tutorial two years ago and I loved what she did with it.  Link to Sheila's original post and video: Making a window card with a large window

Birthday Shaker Card Made With WRMK Fuse And My Explore Of Course

This is the card that I made for my cousin Brenda. Brenda owns an Alpaca Farm in Wisconsin and we all love going there to see the animals. Her favorite animal is Arthur the Lama. Every time we go to Brenda's we have to out to the pasture and see Arthur. Now you know when I saw this piece of artwork on the Birthday Bash cart I had to make this birthday card for Brenda. Join me this morning with your cup of coffee or tea while I put this card together.

Wasn't that great and I got to use this  great new too that Patsy Gamble sent me and it was so much fun. It took me a while at first I think because of the thickness of my plastic. But it worked out great.

I decided I would try using a few stickles on the front of the card and I think it turned out great. Her are a few close ups that I thought you might enjoy.

Here is a close up of Arthur. Brenda takes things she enjoys and shows Arthur. It is my understanding that this card was shown to him too!

Wonderful Birthday Window Card For My 7 Year Old Gavin!

I am so excited to share this wonderful window card with you today. My grandson Gavin turned 7 this week so of course we had to have a special little card for him. The paper is from the boy stack and the images are from Cricut's Design space. The plastic in the center is from a thick page sheet, and it helps give the card that finished look. Now go grab a cup of coffee and join me in making this card.

See how easy that was. I realized that I designed it wrong which made it harder to put together. I should have welded the top of the card, then made a copy/paste and attached the 2 pieces of the card together and welded that for an easier card.

Here are a few close ups and you can see that I flattened the artwork and then did a print and cut as the pieces were just too small to play with.

This is a great photo to show the window in the card and you can see it is a heavy grade of plastic.

This is what the inside looks like. I didn't stamp anything as I want the space to write a little note as my little Gavin now lives in Rhode Island.

Personalized Birthday Card Using The Explore Print Then Cut Feature

This is a wonderful personalized birthday card designed on the Cricut Explore using the all new print then cut feature. My first picture was a little hard to use the tool but it was because I was using a large pointer, but as soon as I figured that out it was easy. Just pull up a photo on your computer and erase the items you don't want to show and you are good to go.

This is a long video but there is a lot to show you. I love window cards and they are really easy to make on Design Space because you have so much room to work with. You are litmited only by the size of your monitor.

This is a close up of the inside of the card. Even with stamping a message I had enough room to write a little note to Brianna.

This is a close up of the front of the card and Brianna's photo. It really turned out nice as you can see.

Football Slider Card

Hello everyone!!!  It's Danita from danitasdesigns.blogspot.com.

I want to wish my husband, Keith, a Happy 55th Birthday today!! This is the slider card I made for him. I used the the template from Ken's Kreations and modified it to suit my needs. The football does not spin, it slides, like he's throwing it. (see the video at the bottom)

Happy Birthday Card

 

Hello, hope you are having a great day. Today I am sharing an easy birthday card that you can put together in a very short time. As you know I just co-hosted a Card Party and this was one of the cards I brought. I was getting low on birthday cards so I set up a multiple cut on my Silhouette Portrait. I was able to cut 12 cards in no time at all.

 

 

See how easy that was to put together. I used a lot of Xyron because it was going to the card party and it would take too long for us ladies to glue it on. At home I use a spray adhesive and it works great.

This is a close up of the cut and most of it was a clean cut but I did have a few problem areas as my mat was wearing out. Fortunately I got all my cards cut for the party. I did order 4 more so now I am in good shape. I have to admit the hard part was loading enough pieces for the mat. Now that I have my Cricut Explorer I will just say cut 12 and it will do all the hard work for me! I love my new EXPLORER!

Napkin Card

Hello everyone, it's Danita from danitasdesigns.blogspot.com. This is my designs post for August.

The latest craze is now the Napkin Card.  It is simply, as stated, greeting cards made with napkins. I have seen some beautiful cards made with this method and thought I would give it a try but I had 2 challenges:

1. Finding decent looking napkins and 

2. the videos I watched were much too complicated for me and

 AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!.

I set out to find my own method, quicker and easier (to me anyway).  Here's the 1st card I made:

and here's how I did it:                        

  Select your napkins

Then separate the layers. Most will have two or three layers

Cut out the portion of the napkin you want as the front of card, in this case, I wanted the front and the back of the card to be covered  so I opened the full napkin and then I cut a piece of 12 x 12 cardstock in half. (keep both pieces, I'll tell you why shortly)

 Lay your napkin over the card stock, leaving at least 1/4 edge all around then trim away the excess.

I used the Sparkle Modge Podge . Side note....I won a huge basket of every type of Modge Podge made at the Michaels Gold  Card event ( held years ago) and now I can finally use some. I have enough #Modge Podge and acessories to last me the rest of my life! Okay back to my post, I rolled the Modge Podge completely over the full length on the card stock, then carefully place the napkin on it.

 I let it set for a few minutes (dries fairly quick) then I used my ATG gun around the edges to secure the napkin, You don't have to, I just suck at trimming! lol 

This is why I think you need the other half of the card stock. The Modge Podge made the napkin top a little filmsy ( I may have put too much down) and I like my cards sturdier so I attached it to the card base.  Press the two pieces together firmly to make sure they stick. 

I like using the Modge  Podge because it gives the napkin a 'canvas-like' feel and is really pretty

Here's the front and back of the card.

 I added a little glitter to front just because I like bling!

Add a sentiment to the front and inside and that's it!  Simple!

Card in a Box (X-tra large)

I finally braved the waters and tried my hand at the latest craze-----Card in a Box. You can see my very first one here on my blog. This is my second attempt.

I was a bit intimidated until I found one in the Silhouette Store. It's a Lori Whitlock Box Card. I figured I would fare much better letting my machine do the cutting and measuring. I like big cards! With that being said, I decided to venture out to see if I could make a larger one, and I did! Here's one I did for my friend who is a teacher as well as a cheerleading coach. You may actually see it before she does. It's been hard to catch up with her lately.

Here's how I made it:

I started out by increasing the size of the design in the Silhouette store to 17 inches wide and 7 inches high. Using a 12 x 24 mat I cut out the box using The DCWV 12 x 24 inch card stock. My friends and I picked up a couple packs of these a few years ago when T.J. Maxx was clearing them out for $5.50 each. I always knew they would come in handy one day! lol.

I did not realize, until I had cut out the box, that this particular cardstock is adhesive backed!. So I had to decorate each side to keep them from sticking together.

 I didn't mind though, it was fun putting the colors together. Here are the 2 covered inserts

Once I had all my adhesive sides decorated, I began the construction: 

You then add your cut-outs, flowers or whatever embellishments you like to finish.

Here's the box folded up. Now keep in mind, the folded box card is 8 x 7 so you will need a large envelope for mailing.
