Slainte - An Irish Blessing To You!

A Gaelic Irish Blessing that my hubby and I pass along to you from our recent trip to Chicago. This page was so much fun to do and is done only with the Plantin cart. We are in a town called Barrington in the Northwest suburbs at  a new Irish Pub call McGonigals having a wonderful dinner with family and friends. Slainte' to you!

I used new paper I just got at Michaels's the In My Minds Eye Home paper stack, I love the texture and it cut like butter. The glitter pages did need to be cut 2 times. The gold tulle I picked up for less than $1 and this is the second project I have used it on this week and haven't even used half of it.

I backed the circle with the tulle, tacked down and then applied glue once I had a smooth fit.

I put together the little flowers and after the page was completed I used diamond sticles on the flower tips.

I hand cut the plume from the paper to use as an accent.

'Sláinte chuig na fir, agus go mairfidh na mná go deo.'

Health to the men, and may the women live forever!

Then I used pop dots to lift the plume for added dimension. Added the flowers.

And as you can see the heading faded into the background so I then used pearlized chalk to deepen the color.

Added a few beads from the bridal section that added the bling needed with the stickles. Added one of my had made butterflies from a few months back and 'viola  the page is done.

This is the last of my Army pages and I really had fun putting this together. I found this last photo of Jason and of course I wanted to use it. I am not used to putting just one photo on a page so for me this was a challenge. Join me today as I show you how to weld letters on the Explore and then put the page together.

See how easy this is? It make is so easy to handle when you put the page together too.

It is so much easier to put your pages together on the screen and then place it on the paper. You can move and adjust on the screen but you certainly can't if you have placed glue on the paper.

This is my journaling box and this is the only page of the three Army pages that I hand wrote. Easier to type but more sentimental to write.

Heather Makes The News

This is a great page showing how to scrap a newspaper article. Go get a cup of coffee or coke and join me as I show you how to put this page together.

The heading has letters that are welded together to make it easier to glue the letters down. Please watch the following video to show you how you can design you page right on the Cricut  Explore.

See how easy it is. After I get my page designed I do all the cutting. My workspace is right in front of my computer so it is easy to remember what I had in mind when I designed it.

See how just curling the flowers around a pen adds dimension to the page.

See it doesn't take long when you plan out what you are doing and follow through.

I like to mix up my tags by writing and typing them. I love looking back on my mothers hand writing and I think they will enjoy that later in life.

Basket Ball Scrapbook Page

Don't you just love basketball? I love the speed of the game, the excitement the loud noise of the crowd and even the squeaking of their gym show as they run the court. Fortunately my son loved the game and was actually very good at it. Jason went to a private school and would shine in sports.

 I used my new Explore and it was just so easy putting all the little elements onto the page. I like a lot of photos and I assure you there will be more pages.

See how easy it is to put a page together? I like plenty of photos and these 2 pages do the trick.

It was great being able to type the  journaling and fit it in last minute in the space I had for it.

Don't you just love this basketball player? I used a spray adhesive to attach him to the page.

Here is the 2nd page and I just love the action of the 5x7. So you know the boys did get the ball from the guy in white without getting a foul!

All I want for Christmas is....

Hi everyone...it's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail.  If you've been following along for awhile, you know that I'm sharing a holiday creation each month when my design team day rolls around.  This month, rather than share a card I'm going to share a scrapbook page that I have created that will hold my son's photo taken with Santa Claus.

The picture that I will put in the mat is 5 by 7, so the mat takes up a lot of the page.  I cut the title and the scalloped edge using my Cameo.  The papers are by Echo Park and are from the "Tis the Season" scrapbooking kit, which continues to be one of my favorite holiday lines.  The tag was also from that kit.  It's a simple page, but the fun papers are perfect and I think the title is a great match for a picture with Santa Claus.

School Picture Scrapbook Page

Hi Everyone!  It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail here today with a scrapbook page that I'm showcasing at She's a Sassy Lady.  I create a scrapbook for my son for each school year, and I've traditionally used a school picture for the title page of each book.  My son will be starting fourth grade in one week, so I decided my post this month would be the page that I designed to kick off his fourth grade scrapbook album.  Check it out!

  

I will add his photo (5 by 7) to the navy blue photo mat.  

All papers and stickers that I used are from Echo Park's Paper and Glue scrapbook kit.  It comes with a ton of fabulous papers, two sticker pages and a couple of the paper sheets can be cut into journal boxes.  The box in the lower left corner of my page is one of those journal boxes--I will be adding my son's name, his school, the year and his teacher's name in that box. 

 

 The apples are stickers that came with this kit...aren't they cute?!  I used my Stampin' UP! pennant punch to make this banner.  I connected each pennant with a brad.  Does anyone else still love brads?  I know I do!

 

 

I had to add a title to my page, of course!  This "Read. Set. Go." cut is from the new Close To My Heart "Artbooking" Cricut Cartridge.  I set my machine to Real Dial Size and cut it at 1".

"Look Whoooo's 1" layout using a photo fold-out

Hello everyone! Hope your fall is fabulously full of fantastically fun things!! :-)  (I tried to think of a word that started with "f" besides "things" but came up short! Haha!)  This is Java Jen from Java Jen Creations here to share a 1st Birthday project with you!  Thank you, Sheila, for another opportunity!

Our oldest grandson will be celebrating his first birthday on December 2nd so I wanted to come up with a special layout! I created this layout using the November kit from Club Ruby Designers. To see this entire kit and check out a special deal going on right now, click HERE ! 

Here is the completed layout and I'll show you how I did it - it's very simple really!

Make a photo fold-out by scoring a 12x12 piece of paper at 4" and 8". Rotate once and repeat. Only cut out the corners and fold the other score lines. I used a leaf border punch on the inside 2 flaps and trimmed a little off of the sides on all the flaps so it would close easier. 

Make mats for the inside of fold out by cutting 3.25" squares of brown and green card stock. If you are going to use thin magnetic snaps to keep it closed, you will want to adhere them underneath the card stock mats so they are not seen.  (I didn't think of this until after so I will come up with another way to keep it closed.)

Prepare the layout by adhering 12" strips of ribbon as shown. (Forgot to take a pic of the second ribbon on here!)

Adhere the fold out on top of the ribbon by putting adhesive on the center panel only. I used a Puffie in the kit to embellish a bit.

I used the Thickers in the kit to put part of my title on the cover of the fold out.

To make the owl, I used the Campin' Critters Cricut cartridge and cut it and its layers out at 5.51".  Of course, I had to use my white gel pen to do a little stitching! :-)

For the rest of the title, I used the Pooh Font cartridge.  I used the Cricut markers first then cut it out so they would be outlined. I especially like using the markers when I use this cartridge because it brings out the wood look.  The letters are cut at 2.18". 

Here it is all put together and with the fold out open. This is where extra pics will be going!

Using Sketch Sheets to make a scrapbook

Hello everyone!! Java Jen here from Java Jen Creations again! Thanks so much, Sheila, for allowing me to share here again!  Hope you're all having a great Thursday! Our summer has been filled with lots of traveling so far and we've been having lots of great family time!!
We all know how to scrapbook our own pictures by grouping pictures from particular events or themes but it becomes a little more difficult when we are asked to do someone else's pictures. I want to show you how easy it can be by using the FREE sketch sheets that are available to print at Above Rubies Studio ! A friend at our church asked me to make a scrapbook for her daughter's 1st birthday. She brought me the pictures that she wanted in it and we decided together, what pictures would go on what pages and what page titles would work for each one.  If you go to the Above Rubies Studio site , you will see a link on the right side to download and print the free sketch sheets. There are many different ones, depending on what your project is.  I used the ones for 12x12 layouts.

The nice thing about these sketch sheets is that you can simply give yourself a blueprint to work off of. On the back of the pictures, I used a sticky note with the page # they belonged to. We had these sketch sheets filled out and pictures sorted in about a half hour!  I managed to take pictures of several of the completed pages before we left for vacation but I'll have to post the others later. 

 I used Storybook for the font for her name.

 I used Once Upon a Princess for the word Princess and the crown.  With my Gypsy, I welded the words "Our Little" using the A Child's Year font.

The words on the pages above and below were welded using the Birthday Cakes font. The expectant mommy is from New Arrival. The tags are from Don Juan. I used a clipboard stamp from a new set I recently purchased from My Creative Time with Emma . I just love her stamps!!

These pages were so much fun! I used a cloud cut from Create a Critter and embossed them with the Swirls cuttlebug folder - then inked them with a light pink ink! So easy to do but it adds so much pretty detail! The newborn cut is from New Arrival and the words were welded using the Baby Steps cartridge.

You'll notice that I left journaling places on each page or two-page spread so that they can fill in the details of their stories. That is definitely something that I always encourage my customers to do. I can't do that part for them! :-) The "Grand Adventure" cut is from Baby Steps.

I hope this project encourages you to try these sketch sheets for yourself! Once you have your sketches done, just pull out your Gypsy and design away! That's the other reason this project was manageable!
