It's A Boy

Hey y'all! Happy Monday! Aymee Gandy of 'A Scraphappy Southernbelle' here with you on this gorgeous fall day to share a little card I made. I hope all of you had a wonderful, relaxing weekend! Did you enjoy it? We had perfect weather here, great football games, and a lot of relaxation/play time with our new Yorkie puppy. It was a fabulous time!

Anyways, I have created a card for my brother and sister in law. As you may already know, they are expecting their second baby in April. Well this past week we found out that they are having another boy!!! Carter (that's my nephew) will have a baby brother!!! My whole family is so excited to welcome this new little one into our lives! I can't wait to meet him! To congratulate them on finding out that it's a boy, I decided to make a little card to send out. Instead of going with the traditional blue tones of baby boy cards, I wanted to switch things up a bit and went with a mixture of lime greens and grays. I hope they will like it!

I used my Cricut Gypsy to design the card and cut it out on my Cricut Expression. This was a very easy and fun card to create. I had it finished in a little over an hour, so not too bad. Here is my project:

Supplies Used

Cardstock: The Paper Studio, Bazzill Basics Paper

Patterned Paper: First Edition Paper

Twine: My Craft Spot

Button: The Paper Studio

Pearls: Queen & Co.

Glitter Glue: Stickles (Ranger Industries), Eucalyptus

Electronic Cutter: Cricut Expression (Provo Craft)

Software: Cricut Gypsy (Provo Craft)

Cartridge: Gypsy Font, Gypsy Wanderings, New Arrival

Adhesive: Helmar

 The outside shape of the card is from the Gypsy Font cartridge. The bottle in the background is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I added a little twine bow/button combo to glam up the bottle just a tad.

 This border is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge. I used pop dots to pop it up for added dimension. I then added some Stickles for a bit of bling.

 For the inside of the card, I cut out the same shape that I used on the card front in coordinating papers. I then cut out my sentiment from the New Arrival cartridge.

 I finished off the back of the card with more coordinating paper and my custom stamp.

Kiss Cutting Vinyl

Hi, Becky here from Journey to Creativity with you today. Well summer is winding down and fall will be upon us shortly. I'm really looking forward to fall this year. I'm excited about all the fun things that are happening at She's a Sassy Lady. There has been a lot of fantastic talent added to our design team and I'm looking forward to what is in store for us this winter. I can't wait.

Now, let's get down to business. I have had several events lately where I needed to cut vinyl. So I researched kiss cutting vinyl and practiced until I figured out exactly how to kiss cut it correctly.

I purchased this water bottle on sale at Wal-Mart for $1. I needed a gift for a 30th anniversary at work and thought it would be great to add initials to it.

I started by putting lots of circles on my gypsy and then adding the initial K (for Karen) at the end.

I used the Gypsy font for the letter K. I got the perfect kiss cut by setting the pressure at medium and the blade depth at 4.


Here is the vinyl after peeling off the excess. The kiss cut was PERFECT!

I applied the polka dots and the initial to the water bottle and came up with this really cute gift.

The Journey

Hi again, Becky here from My Journey to Creativity. I have found that my favorite projects are altering items. I have a passion for picture frames. Over the past few months I have acquired quite a collection to alter. Today's project is a frame that I bought for just a couple of dollars because the mat inside the frame was damaged. Here is a picture of the damaged mat:

I covered the damaged mat with pink paisley paper by The Paper Studio and then inked the edges and around the corners of the paper for added shading.

Around the inside edge of the frame I added my favorite "Spare Parts" by The Paper Studio as embellishments. These diamond shaped gemstones are my absolute favorite. I think I could add them to every project and never get tired of them.

I wanted the frame to have some dimension to it so on the outside of the glass I added my lettering "the Journey". I cut the letters using the gypsy font on vinyl that I picked up from Wal-Mart.


I cut a corner scroll using the Home Accents cartridge, covered it with Glossy Accents and added pop-dots to the bottom of it so that it would be slightly raised off of the mat board.



The frame was all pretty and white but I favor the distressed look. Sanding down the inside and outside edges gave the frame exactly the look I wanted.


I decided to use the frame in my craft room so using the Forever Young cartridge I cut the dress form using Best Occasions card stock and added it to contrasting green card stock also by Best Occasions. I love the way this card stock cuts in my cricut and how the final project turned out.
