Feel Better

Hi everyone...It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail, and do I ever love the card I'm sharing.  It was a Pinterest inspired design, but totally adapted for the colors I like. It's always good to keep an eye out for layouts you like, but then adapt the colors for your preference.

I started with my Cameo and designed the basic background of the card.  I started with a standard mat in the polka dot paper, then layered three banners in the floral print.  The doily was a cut from the Silhouette Online Store.  Rather than edit it, I cut a full circle, then simply sliced it in half with my trimmer (and used the other one to make a second card!).  The butterfly is also from the Silhouette Online Store.  I added a few glitter pearls for the body of the butterfly.  The stamped image is by PTI from the Mega Mixed Messages stamp set.  I added a Prima and a glitter brad to finish off the card.  The papers were all scraps in my bin.  Scraps have never looked so pretty!

September Holiday Card Share

Hey everyone....it's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail,and that means it is time for another version of a Christmas card.  The card I'm sharing today is pretty traditional, featuring some beautiful papers from the Echo Park Christmas This and That 6 by 6 paper pad.

I used a lot of scraps for this card.  I keep my scraps of each 6 by 6 pad in a clear baggie tucked inside each separate pad.  That's an organizational method that has worked well for me and I find I actually use a lot of scraps up this way.  For this card, the oval shapes were cut using the Creative Memories oval cutting system.  I inked the edges of the white oval using Cateye Chalk Ink.  The basket was stamped on a scrap from that paper pad and then I cut it out using my Cutterbee scissors (love those!).  I stamped the basket filler and colored it with Copic Markers.  The basket stamps are by PTI and are from the "Vintage Picnic Basket" stamp sets.   The banner is a shape I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  The sentiment is from SP&Company's "Oh Christmas Tree" stamp set.   And those tiny brads....they came from Stampin' UP!

Just Chillin'

Hi Everyone!  It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail and I'm so excited about the card I'm sharing with you all today.  It's a super cute "winter" card that uses some fun Cricut cuts mixed with an adorable snowman stamp.  Could it get any better--stamping and die cutting all at once?!

To begin this card, I cut out the snowglobe image from Cricut Joys of the Season.  That's an older Cricut Cartridge, but it has a lot of great "basics" for the holiday season on it.  I omitted the layer that creates the snowflakes, and just used a sheet of snowflake paper instead--saved time and used some paper that matched my striped paper perfectly!  I cut my globe at 4 inches.  To keep it from getting lost in the print of the background paper, I did cut the shadow out, too.  It's a smaller shadow, though, so it didn't add too much to the height of the shape.  The small piece with the sentiment stamped on it is from Cricut Art Philosophy and is cut at one inch.

 

I thought you might like to see these stamped images a little closer.  The snowman is from Paper Trey Ink and is from Winter Friendship Jar Fillers.  The greeting is from My Craft Spot "Think Snow".  I used Copics to color the snowman and then used my Cutterbee Scissors to "fussy cut" him out.

Patterned Paper -- DCWV

Baker's Twine -- Stampin' UP!

Brad -- no clue, it's really old!

Stickles -- to accent the snowy bits.

I actually made six of these cards when I sat down to create this design.  It was easy once I had done the initial template.  I like to create cards in batches of six.  It usually works well with a sheet or two of patterned paper and it's just the right amount to build up your stash of cards without getting bored!  How many cards do you make at one time if you are creating in bulk?
