Joy, Peace, Love--time for July's holiday card share

Hey everyone...boy oh boy,  the hot days of summer are upon us.  Am I the only one making Christmas cards?  Perhaps, but it's my time to share a card here at She's A Sassy Lady and that means it's my monthly holiday card share!  But since it really is the middle of the summer, I decided the card this month would be very much on the CAS (that's Clean And Simple!) side of the spectrum.

It would be so easy to knock out a TON of these cards.   I used the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge and the coordinating CTMH tree stamp.  I added a few dots of Liquid Pearls in some of the polka dots on the trees.  The patterned papers are by Echo Park  and were just some scraps leftover from some scrapbook pages that I created.  The "Joy, Peace, Love" message is a sticker.  I added a couple of brads from my stash for just a little added dimension.

Thankful Cards

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2nd Thursday of September! It's Java Jen from JAVA JEN CREATIONS here taking my monthly turn to share with everyone here and over at CRICUT IS CLOSE TO MY HEART!  Thank you again, Sheila, for this opportunity!

Today I chose to make a great pocket and tags combo that is on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge. If you don't already have a CTMH consultant that you purchase from, you are welcome to click HERE to visit my site and place an order for this amazing cartridge and so many other goodies!

Here is my finished project:

You can find this pocket and tags on page 25 of the cartridge booklet.

To make this project the size that will work with the coordinating stamp sets, you need to size the pocket at 7.5"H.  Adhere a wide strip of ribbon around the pocket after it is assembled, leaving the seam in the front. It gets covered up with a label.

Cut the tags at 3.5"H and if you have the coordinating stamp set - stamp the borders on them. This stamp set is S1109 which was the September 2011 SOTM called Limited Edition.

The sentiment stamps are from ABOVE RUBIES STUDIO.  I added some ribbon to make the tags pop! :-)

Next, make the label for the front. The label and layer is found on page 55 of the cartridge booklet. it is cut at 1.25"H.  I stamped it with a stamp from the Limited Edition set.

Adhere the label with pop dots on top of the ribbon on the front.

Time to put it all together!

 I'm thinking this will make a great gift for someone who needs an encouraging word or two or three!

Stacked Boxes

Happy Thursday, my crafty friends! So excited that it's my turn to be a guest here on Sheila's blog!! Thank you, Sheila!! I'm also a guest designer over at CRICUT IS CLOSE TO MY HEART! Be sure to stop over there to see lots of fabulous projects you can make with CTMH products!!

Today, I decided to make one of the boxes on the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge that I have been eyeing ever since I saw the project idea in the previous catalog!  Here is my completed set:

Now for the details! :-)

First I cut the box out on page 21 of the cartridge booklet at  11.12", 8.18" and 6.41".(Font Layer - shift) Then I folded on the score lines, burnished the folds and inked the edges.

I'm thinking I can use these boxes to hold some mini cards or gift cards. Here are the boxes stacked and unembellished:

I then added some lace ribbon and some tags cut from Art Philosophy and stamped with CTMH stamps. The tickets are also from Art Philosophy and I printed them on my Cricut Imagine. Of course, I had to add some stitching and then I was done! After making these, I can see them as a centerpiece on a table for a party!

A Christmas Card and First design post

Hi everyone, I'm Karon, from Karons Krafty Korner and this is my first posting as a She's a Sassy Lady member of the design team.  I would like to sincerely thank Sheila for giving me this opportunity.

I hope you will like the card that I have made for you today.

I decided to get a start on my Christmas cards and was trying to think a little out of the box.  This is a gate fold card with a window.  Here is how it can be designed in Cricut Craft Room.

I used the George and Basic shapes cartridge, the rectangle is sized at 5.5" wide by 8.5" height.

The circles are sized at 2.5".  (Your card base will end up being 4.25" by 5.5").

I found it easier to place the rectangle centred as it then makes it easier to place the circles centrally at either end. Do not weld the circles as you want to finish with a rectangle that has half circles cut out of each end as below.

You will need to score the card at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" , I have shown this on white card above (doesn't it look like a football field LOL). 

Here is my card base, with the edges embossed using my Cuttlebug and the folder Snow Flakes.

You will notice I have also put in 4 eyelets one on each edge of the card above and below the window.  You will see what these are for in a moment.

Here are the elements I am adding to the inside of my card.  

The holly paper layer is cut at 4" by 5.25".

The scollop circles (Art Philosophy Cartridge page 41, Circle 3) were cut at 2.5" and 2.25" and embossed with the Snow Flakes folder.  The stocking was cut at 1.75" (Art Philosophy page 67).  

I layered the first scallop flat to the inside layer and then used pop dots for the second scallop and the stocking to add depth.

To finish of I tied some sparkly ribbon to tie the gates together.  And there you go - one Christmas card complete.

So there you are - I have finally made a start on my Christmas cards for this year - do you think I'm mad?!

Camp Autograph Book

Hello everyone!! This is Jen from JAVA JEN CREATIONS here to share with all of you and all the followers of the CRICUT IS CLOSE TO MY HEART blog, my little Camp Autograph book! Thank you Sheila for this opportunity to post here once again! Well, it's that time of year again when lots of kids head off to camps of all kinds! Our son, who is 14, will be going to church youth camp next week and I thought it would be fun to make him an autograph book to take with him for old and new friends to sign and write a little message in. Actually, he doesn't think he will use it but I'm going to tuck it into his bag anyway and see what happens! LOL!

Now, the details!

First, I cut the tag card that is on page 50 of the Art Philosophy cartridge at 6.5". I am using this as my "book" cover. I cut it out of Coordinations color core card stock - the kind where a different color shows through when you dry emboss it and sand it.

Here are two cards that are embossed using the Tim Holtz Alterations Wood Grain folder and then sanded.

Next, using that same button on the AP cartridge, I cut 3 tags, also at 6.5" to be the pages in the book.

Next, I cut the tag/label on page 42 of the handbook to use for my title on the front. Here it is all inked up and stitched! :-)

Finished off with a little ribbon on the edges.....

I used the January 2012 Stamp of the Month to make a journaling tag to record the dates of camp.

Everything that is inked on this project was inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Vintage Photo

I circled the dates for the camp and adhered it to the inside left of the card.

Took a few stamps from the September 2012 Stamp of the Month set called Limited Edition to embellish the inside of the back cover.

Now, to finish off the tags -  I inked them and stamped them with the same stamps as the above pic, but I stamped each first impression on some scrap paper and then did a second, lighter impression on the tags so the sentiments wouldn't interfere with the autographs. I just wanted to create a little bit of a background. The binder clip stamp is from D1378 - Notice the Details. I just love the detail that it adds!

Now for some finishing touches - ribbon and twine on the binder ring and I wrote "Church Camp 2012" on my title plate.

June Calendar page

Hello everyone!! Java Jen here from JAVA JEN CREATIONS to share a simple calendar page with you all! (If you remember, I was here just last week because I goofed and thought my Thursday was last week! It actually worked out best for Sheila that way so I offered to be here again this week!)  Thank you, Sheila for being so gracious and I'm glad I could help! :-)
If you have seen a lot of my posts, you know that I do a different calendar page each month to showcase on my fridge and then add it to my scrapbook in front of all the pics I took that month.  This month, I decided to show how you can make a calendar grid if you don't have the Designer's Calendar cartridge.  Here is my finished page:

Let's break it down a bit.

To make my grid, I used my Gypsy, (forgot to take a pic of my screen), and lined up 35 - 1.5"squares to form my calendar. The squares I used are from Art Philosophy because I wanted squares with a little scallop on the corners but any square will work.  After the cut, I trimmed the extra off the edges.

The 35 little squares can be saved for another project.

Then I used the Father's Day seasonal cartridge and my Cricut markers to make my icon to designate Father's Day on my calendar. I chose to just use the markers and not cut it.  I just cut around the outside with my scissors.

Then, I actually used 4 of those little squares to stamp my title on - I used the Urban Alphabet stamp set from CTMH.  Then I used CTMH's Liquid Glass to give the letters a shiny appearance.

I punched holes in the squares and threaded twine through to hang then across the page. The squares themselves are mounted with pop dots so they won't slide around.

Here are a few more close-ups of the squares and the twine "clothesline".

I also used Liquid Glass to adhere the twine to the page.

I added Distress Stickles throughout the grid to give a little pop of color.

Here is the Father's Day icon in place.

The background paper is from DVWV's Heirloom stack - (I love this stack!)
