Cricut Couple Snowflake Card

Jill and I are just thrilled to be ask to guest design for She's a Sassy Lady.  I just hope ya'll don't mind that this project was made by a DUDE!  Hee! Hee!  This was a really fun project and I sure hope you try it yourself.  It makes a really beautiful card, but also works fantastic for ornaments.

You will need a Gypsy to complete this card for the base shape.  I used When it's cold outside, Accent Essentials and Lacy Labels for the cuts in this card.

This card shape is from Accent Essentials.  The cut on the screen makes two cards.  Simply make the shapes a height of 5.20 and then over lap them in the center and weld them together.  This is the hinge for your card.  For this card, this was cut from a sage green card stock.

 On the left, this mat is cut from patterned paper at a height of 4.75 and the sentiment mat is cut from white card at a height of 4.29.

 This page is for the snowflake details.  This entire page is cut from the snowflake patterned/glittered paper.

This page is also for the snowflake details and is cut from pearlized white card stock.  While your shapes are cutting, you can prepare your folding project!

Cut two strips of patterns paper.  Both strips are 3" x 12".  Punch down one side with your choice of border punch.  This one is from a Martha Stewart set for corners and borders.

Starting on the front, use your scoring board and score a line every half inch.  This is scored the entire length of the strip.

Then flip over the strip and score again, every half inch, but score this in the center of the other side's scored lines.  This will make it much easier for folding.

Fold your two strips using the score lines you created to make two long accordian strips as shown above.

Keeping the detail side facing inside, glue your ends together.  Use a good paper glue and then clip the ends to hold.  Make sure you allow this to dry well before continuing.

While the glue is drying, it's a good time to ink your project.  I used a chocolate ink for the card layers and an opaque white ink for the brown snowflake cutouts.

Once the glue had dried, simply spread out the snowflake side of the tube you created and bring the uncut side to the center.  This will form your snowflake circle background for your card.  Sit a can or something in the center to hold it down.

Using the cut from your card shape, stick with double sided tape on the outside front of your card.  Stick down your folded snowflake circle to the front of the card.

Then add your snowflake shapes.  Use 3D tape or zots if you want to make the layers pop, like this one.

You will see that I used stickles here and there to add some bling to the project.

On the inside, I used the same patterned paper that was used on the outside for a border.  Then made the white sentiment mat.  I also added a few small brown snowflakes to finish it off.

Again, this technique makes fantastic ornaments too.  It can be used in so many ways!

Sassy Gift Box - MyaMagoo Style

This is such a wonderful project and I guarantee you will want to make this little box over and over again. What a wonderful way to present a gift. My thanks to our very own MyaMagoo for this design at Design~Create~Inspire. My work scheduled me with no days off for this week and last other than Sunday. This left me with many projects to complete and not enough time...  I asked, and Crystal came to the rescue with her very own Hexagon Box. And it cut perfectly! All you need to cut this design is GW, PS and AE. I used Heritage for the Cameo for my design and Forever Young for the hat which I used as a gift tag. This gives it a look of a ladies hat box.

This is the design and I have touched the preview button so you can see how it is actually going to cut while allowing you to see the complete design. (Note: if you download this file just be sure to delete the cart letters on the top left or they will  cut too.) I knew by looking at the design this would cut perfectly so I didn't even try a test cut!

All I did was add a Cameo and the Hat and it was ready to cut... I didn't even save that as I figured what ever the occasion, whom ever the receiver the art or decorations will change for that person.

Aren't these papers yummy? Hobby Lobby has wonderful designer paper for $1.99 per sheet that is just awesome.... be sure to buy when on sale or you have a coupon.

This is a very important step in this project... scoring. You really need to take the time to score properly for this design to come together perfectly. After you score be sure to fold and crease the edge as shown so it comes together with clean crisp edges.

Then I did the Hexagon. Take it slow and concentrarte. There are no score lines as you really don't need them. Just score from edge to edge on each flap, as shown below.

Now I used a heavy glitter paper so I recommend Zip Dry Glue for that, your ATG tape will not hold on glitter paper... I tried, it will not hold.

Do the same process for your lid but before glueing together be sure to add any decorations on the lid while you can still lie it flat. Then place glue on the edges and bring up the sides. Because my top was mainly paper I put it together first and let it dry. Then after I put the bottom together I placed the lid on it to hold in place while it dried. Make sure you don't have any excess glue from the bottom touching the lid though or you will not be able to get them apart.

I used the Zip Dry to adhere the cameo to the lid?

It looks so pretty and feminine.

See how nicely it fits together.

I made the tag from the Forever Young cart, 2 pieces glued together with a little feather in between.

And of course the little hat will fit nicely in the box. I cut it from the scrap edges while cutting the box base.

Added a little flower and it was good to go.

Don't you just love this little box? So easy, less than 5 minutes to cut and only about a 30 to 45 minutes to put together.

All Dressed Up

Don't you just love this Layout? So simple! I have been trying to post a few simple but pretty layouts as a few friends told me they don't have time for the real complex designs. So I thought I could just show you a couple of different looks that are real easy to put together yet hold your eye. I went for drama in the red family layout and this one is of my beautiful grand daughert Brianna. The patterned papers are SEI and the heading is from the new cartridge Forever Young. Those cute little flowers are from George. I scraplifted the look of the flowers from my friend Jen as I just love the way they look! So simple and yet beautiful.

This was only 3 cuts on my Gypsy Woman, the scalloped flowers on left of photo above, the heading and the flowers. All I did was put the flowers together and adhered a couple items to the page. The pink fibre was left over from my Tuesday Treats and ShesASassyLady Shopping With Sass bags. Remember to use Zip Dry to adhere this fibre.

Isn't the fibre pretty? The beads just add such a glam feeling and my little Brianna just loves bling!

See, just another simple layout made with one and a half sheets of patterned SEI paper, one pink and one black sheet of letter sized cardstock and a couple of brads. All I did was put the flowers together and adhered everything to the black and white 12x12 and viola the layout is complete, 15 minutes at my Gypsy planning, 15 minutes to cut and another 15 to put together! So in less than an hour you can complete a layout like this and even have time to clean your workspace!!!
