Happy 98th Birthday, Gma!

Hello everyone! Java Jen here from JAVA JEN CREATIONS and I am so excited to share some projects with you this month! Thank you, Sheila, for another opportunity!
Recently my Gma, (short for Grandma), turned 98 and we celebrated in grand style! I was in charge of the decorations and I had so much fun doing them! My Gma's sister turned 96 the day after her so we celebrated her too! I made a birthday banner, Chip Decor names and themed centerpieces.

I used the Country Life cartridge for the images in this centerpiece because it was perfect to represent her growing up years!

Used the Hobby Lobby exclusive cartridge, Chip Decor to cover the Chip Decor letters.

Made this centerpiece using the Heritage and Country Life cartridges.

Gypsy Made Simple - Altered Tri-Fold Card

Tweet, just too Tweet. I just love making cheerful cards don't you? And this is easy all I had to do is use the template from last week, (click HERE for link) pick out some fresh art and a few clicks and this card was ready to cut. So grab your coffee turn on your Gypsy and let's get to work. We will revisit last weeks card and alter it for a fresh new look. Easy Peasy!

In this video we work with the template, add the artwork and names the various pages and make our layers for each component to the card.

This is what the file looks like two up. Notice after making the card I changed the direction of the bird as I think it will look better facing the opposite direction. So if you download my file this is what you will get; a  Tweet Tri-Fold Card 2 up.

See how I named the different pages, all that is left is for me to add Tweet on the last pages. Easy, just touch the page and hold it down a screen will pop up for you to tap rename and just add what you want.

In this video we will put the card together from scoring to adhering each piece on. Very simple to follow along.

CARD GIVEAWAY ANNOUNCED! With This Barnyard Cutie!

Isn't this just too cute? Well Shes A Sassy Lady will be giving out this little card kit to one lucky person. For months I have been showing you how I cut my projects, bag them and then put them together when I have the time. Well Now I am going to give a little kit out every week!!! And all you need to do is comment if you would like a chance to win!

This is how the design looks on My Gypsy Woman. Notice it is set up for a cut so the colors line up just right. I used 4 carts to complete the design; AK PDED PDDU, GW.

I laid out the paper like this, and didn't end up using the brown afterall.

Here are the card kits.... note after I saw the blues in the daylight I changed them out so they matched better.

All you need to do is chalk the cows per your taste... I am from Wisconsin and while I grew up in Chicago every summer I spent on the aunt and uncle's farm with my cousins. Well we had Holstein cows so thats what I wanted! If you win and prefer Jersey cows I will send you the litte brown ones.

Then I colored their little eyes in with a fine tip marker.

And got out my brown SU ink and a makeup spounge and inked the edges of the cow.

Then I inked around the red barn.

And trimmed and then inked the cream colored barn. I cut off the roof, around the windows and the roof of the silo. I chalked the silo yellow.

Then I glued the little pieces down and placed thin lines on the front of the barn.

After all the little pieces were put together I attatched them on to the base of the card.

I used pop dots on the little cow on the left and double or should I say stacked pop dots on the one on the right.

Then all I did was attatch the white sheet to the inside and the word MOO.

My First Sassy Lady Design

Hi, I'm Becky from "Journey to Creativity" and to say that I'm excited about being chosen as a member of the Sassy Lady Design team is an understatement. I want to say a big THANK YOU to Sheila for giving me this opportunity. I hope that I can bring you some creative and unique designs.

For my debate I decided to make a baby gift for someone very special to me and my family. Since the baby is a boy, I thought it would be exciting to do something with the Animal Kingdom cartridge. So, I got out my gypsy and started to design a name stand to display in the baby's room. Selecting the font from the Ashlyn's Alphabet cartridge was the easy part. Using the weld feature made it easy for the letter and the selected animal to be one image. My original idea was to cut the images using chipboard. It didn't take me long to figure out that I needed to research cutting techniques for chipboard. I had to re-route my thought process and decided to use the layering effect that I used on a previous project.


I cut 6 images from brown cardstock and layered them together which made them the same thickness as chipboard.


I cut all of the images again using Wild Life paper and layered it to the top of my chipboard.


Next, I used the creative features on the Animal Kingdom cartridge to embellish the animals.


Now on to building the base. You will need an unfinished wood plaque, dowel rods and wooden toy wheels.


Using a hot glue gun, I glued the toy wheels to the plaque and inserted a dowel rod into each toy wheel.


Spray paint everything white. I used Krylon white primer and white paint for a really good coverage to the unfinished wood.

Now take each letter and hot glue it to the dowels.

Put it all together, add ribbon and Wild Life epoxy fasteners as embelishments and we have Alex's name to display in his new room.

Gidday Mate - Another Zoo Page

This is a VERY EASY page using DCWV Animal Crackers stack and the Animal Kindom Cartridge. I chalked a little to offer more character to the Kangaroos and depth to the heading.

This is an ugly page but am so excited as there is only a few more zoo pages to go. The grandchildren love looking at these silly pages!

Sometimes a simple is all it takes. I hope you like todays easy project.
