Gypsy Made Simple - Making Your Own Templates

Good Morning! It's time for Gypsy Made Simple and today we will learn how to make a template for what ever size item you continually make on your Gypsy.... for me it is the A2 card. You will learn just how easy it is to make a card and do it in just a couple of minutes! So get your self a drink, turn your Gypsy on and let's get to work.

This video will teach you how to make your own template. It will be great for making cards of any size that you constantly use. For me it is the A2 and A6 cards. In this video I am showing the A2.

Here is a close up with our little A2 template in use. See how easy it is to just fit an object within the space we have? With using one of my hand made templates there is no extra measuring or sizing you just fit your art in the space provided and you are good to go! I love speedy solutions, don't you?  Note I did not use the shadow feature as after I cut it I didn't like the look on the background paper that I ended up using.

WHAT IS OPEN IN TEMPLATE? WHY DO I NEED IT?

This is a wonderful feature that is great for making word books. As I am not a word book maker I really haven't used this feature that much. Personally I like just using the windows we have but to each their own! I did however, take a few photos so you could see how you can use it to make your own word books. Although I love all the gorgeous little books some of these talented ladies post on their blogs, I have 35 years of scrapbooking to catch up on before I start with the word books!

Again I am going to reiterate, I like the regular pages as I can have everything in one spot. This reminds me of when we first got our Gypsy and did not have pages... but let's move on. I made a simple design in the first  photo  of a 5.5x5.5" square and welded a start on it. I then saved it as 1. Then I went back and clicked on Open as Template.

The photo on the left is what appears. Notice all you need to do is start building all over again, you can copy and paste from the original on the template. After copying and placing on the layer one stretch to get past the edge of the star and attatch your next piece of art. When you go to save it will ask you to save as, all you do is rename it. To me this is a little confusing and a pain in the rear to keep opening and closing and saving and renaming when we can just add pages to our project doing the same thing. You do what you prefer, but the Sassy Lady will just add another page if you don't mind. Now it is great if you want to maybe change wording on a window card as an example. You want the original untouched but want something new, just alter and rename. Note I still do the samething on my regular files, but you need to be more careful my way as you could easily save over the original file and loose it. Personal preference is the key.

This video addresses questions that I have received during the week and goes through all the buttons on your Gypsy and what you can use them for.

 Now it is time for me to put my cards together. I used my distress ink on my little mummy and on the tombstone. I also added little google eyes to make him more realistic.

 After I pop dotted the back of the mummy I attached him to the base of the card. Isn't he handsome? 

This is the word scary from Happy Hauntings and I was surprised it was not welded but that's OK I just grabbed the drywall tape after I lined them up, added glue and positioned them where I wanted them.

See how easy that is! Sometimes you need to use your spatula to lift of let dry a few more seconds. Isn't the paper awesome? I can't believe I actually used this background on 4 cards from just one 12x12 sheet of paper from the Halloween K and Company stack!

Frankie has so many little parts, but he is a handsome little fella! I had to use a set of tweezers to pick up the little pieces.

I used Distress ink to outline his little body then I pop dotted him to attach him to the base of the card. I do think he is handsome and he reminds me of the first Halloween Hubby and I celebrated together.... shh don't let him know I am telling you this story!!! We dressed him up as Frankenstein and rather than go out and spend money on the green make up (we were so broke as newlyweds), I had the brainy idea of just adding green food coloring to make up! What a disaster, he looked great for the party but was very upset when the color didn't come off his face after the party.... Well after about a 1/2 of a jar of Noxzema we had success and I never used the cream in our house again as it just brought back memories that he chooses to forget. So keep that to your self please!!! LOL

"Best Witches to you!" - Shape card

I was soooo excited to get the My Pink Stamper "Spooky Puns" stamps in the mail this week, that I had to make this card!  I also used the Mini Monsters Cartridge, my Halloween Stickles set, Glossy accents, ribbon, and my white gel pen. Wicked!

Hi ~ I am Lori Apgar from ScrappinMyStressAway and I am the Guest Designer today here on Sassy's blog. My project today reflects my recent mood!! First of all, I need to say that I absolutely love Halloween ~ it is my favorite holiday. As I am preparing this project, I am feeling a bit wicked (or maybe witchy) since my Gypsy is still away. I was expecting her to return last week, but instead she is scheduled to arrive Friday. We leave Saturday for vacation so the project I had in mind for today will have to wait.

I cracked out my Mini Monsters cartridge for this one. I wanted to add some bling with my new toy. I also had to try a glitter technique I saw HERE from Kimberly (My Craft Spot).

I cut out the Witch's Hat card at 6". I wasn't sure if the entire card would be 6" or if it would be 6" once folded. It was the latter.

I cut out the layers (keeping the size on 6") from cardstock.

I flipped over the stars and dots and ran them through my Xyron upside down. This puts the sticky on the front.

I got out my new Martha Stewart glitter. This glitter is awesome ~ it is very fine and very sparkly!

I used my scoop tool to rub around my layer pieces to prevent glue boogers (he he) and then peeled off the plastic.

I put the pieces sticky side up and dumped on some glitter. I used a folded scrap paper under the pieces so I can dump the excess back in the glitter bottle.

Next, I attached the hat to the front of the card with my Tombow tape runner.

I have been reading about the I-Rock tool and the Tulip tool. Both are battery operated and comparable in price ~ around $14.99. I also found the Jolees Jewels at Michaels in the bead area and decided to use my 40% off coupon on it. The regular price is $19.99. I really like that it has a cord. I can't wait to try this on clothing!!

This one comes with several metal tips, I picked the 3mm tip and screwed it on the edge of the tool. I plugged it in for about 5 minutes and it was ready. The tip gets really hot so be careful!

I bought both of the I-Rock rock collections ~ this one and the clear one. These crystals have glue on the back and are ready to stick down.

I glued down the hat brim and marked out where I wanted my gems.

I tried the Jewel Setter Applicator to place the crystals. It said "Easy to use! Just add water!" but it was not easy for me! I ended up using my fingers and my tweezers.

I just set the crystal on my pencil dot and pressed down with the tool for about 5 seconds. The glue melts and the crystal sticks.

Here is the blingy brim!

Next, I glued down the glittered stars and dots using my Martha Stewart Glue Writing Pen.

I covered the glittered pieces with Glossy Accents. This seals in the glitter and at the same time gives dimension to the layered pieces.

I outline the shapes first then fill in.

 

Once it dries, you can see the dimension.

Here is the front of the card ~ sparkly!! I cut out letters from Cherry Limeade at 3/4" to put inside the card. For fun, I alternated black and purple.

A side note: even though I was feeling "wicked" on Wednesday when I made this project, I heard some sad news from two different friends. Hearing that two friends were having worse days than me put things into perspective very quickly! Flying off on my broom to enjoy my vacation!!

Mini Monsters Card: Fun & Easy Glitter, Glossy Accents, and Embossing Techniques

Hi everyone!  This is Kimberly (My Craft Spot) with a fun project for you.  I just got this new cartridge and wanted to make something fun, but not Halloween, since it is July!  I am really loving the Mini Monsters Cartridge!  I used my gypsy, lots of glitter (I even mixed two colors to get a new color - see my video), Glossy accents, Cuttlebug and Heat Embossing.  I really had fun making this new card and exploring some new techniques!
