Bloom - A flower tutorial!

Good morning! I am so excited to be back for my second Sassy post! Thank you Sheila for sharing your blog with me!! Recently, I was working on a LO of my daughter when she walked into the room. She was so impressed with the flower (remember - she is only 8! It doesn't take much!!) she immediately wanted to learn how to do it!! Well... that got me thinking... If she wanted to learn, maybe others did too! So, let's start with the completed LO!
I don't mean to brag, but isn't she a cutie?!!  LOL!! Now, back to the flower! These are easy peasy to make!! This is what you are going to need:

I like to use 2 patterned papers and 1 solid. You only need one size circle punch to make the flower. The bigger the circle punch, the bigger the flower!

I like to use my punch upside down so I can see exactly where I am punching!

I punched out 3 circles from each pattern.

Next you need to fold in the two sides so they touch in the middle.

Do this with all six circles.

I then pick one pattern and cut on the fold half way up.

With the other pattern, I cut on the fold from the top, and go half way down. It's hard to tell in the picture!

Once I have made the cuts in all 6 circles, I lay them out in order, with the part of the circle I folded facing in.

Now it is easy to slide the ones that were cut from the bottom (green) into the ones that were cut from the top (stripes).

Continue until you have all 6 circles connected.

To hold it all together, I lift up a part of the overlapped circle and place a small drop of glue on the paper. (If you look really hard, you can see the glue on the flap that is lifted up!!)

Once they are all glued together, I add a button to the center using a glue dot. Now, once I layed this flower on my LO, it kind of got lost in the other patterns, so I had to come up with a way to seperate it from the other papers.

So... I cut out 6 circles from the solid cardstock using the same punch as the patterned papers.

I placed some adhesive on the back.....

and worked my way around the flower, letting a little of the red stick out behind each circle!

This is what the finished circle looks like!!

I also made a smaller flower out of circles. (I used a smaller punch to get these.) I cut out 5 patterned paper circles and one solid circle.

Then I just started laying them down in a circle, overlapping each circle as I went.

I added glue to the back of the solid circle and placed it on top... this is what holds the flower together. If you wanted to, you could glue each circle together as you put them together, but it really is not necessary!

Add a button with a glue dot and you are finished!!

And here it is again on the final LO! Thank you so much for taking the time to look through ALL of these pictures... I know there were quite a few! If you would like to see more of my work, you can find my blog by clicking HERE!!

Disney Passport Mania

Happy Summer everyone! It's Angi from Cokie Pop Paper and I'm back for another Sassy Lady tutorial. This time the focus of today's project is on Disney. At my house - "We Love The Mouse"!

My two angels - Rebekah & Rachel love our trips to Disney World. My project today is called "Disney Passport Mania". Below are instructions to make your own passport.

These passports are great for:

1. Giving as a gift to someone that is going or just got back from Disney. You can even surprise someone by sticking airline tickets to Orlando and Disney park passes in them.

2. Great for holding your Disney mementos such as (park maps, tickets, brochures, etc.)
3. You can also stick this inside a page protector of your Disney album.
Now on to the project instructions:

First, grab an unused scrapbook that you have lying around and remove the white insert out of one of the page protector sleeves. These inserts are somewhat like thinner chipboard. They will serve as the base of our project.

Place your white insert flat on a table. I took this insert from an 8" x 8" album. With my paper trimmer, I cut a strip of red cardstock at 8" x 4". You can adjust this cut depending on what size album that you took your white insert from. Adhere the red strip to your white insert using a Zig pen or other adhesive. Make sure you only adhere the sides and bottom of your red strip. This will serve as our pocket so we need to leave room in the middle to place our Disney mementos in.

Next choose 3 of your favorite Disney patterned paper.

Now cut one of your favorite papers to make another strip. I cut mine at 8" x 3-3/4". Then center and adhere that paper on top of your red cardstock to look like this.

Pick your second favorite Disney patterned paper to cut the last strip. This time cut it at 8" x 2" and adhere it to the top of your white insert like this.

Now we need to type up a cute sentiment or journal spot that will fit the occasion. I typed this up about Rebekah & Rachel. Then I used my Zig pen and adhered it to the left side of my Disney passport. You can use any cute font that you like. If you are looking for cute fonts check out:

Now we need to make a Mickey face cut with the Cricut. For this I used the Disney Mickey Font cartridge and cut Mickey's face at 3". This cut can be found on pages 72 and 74.  I also added an "M" to the center of my Mickey Face to dress it up a bit. I then used adhesive to stick this next to the sentiment/journal spot on my passport.

We are almost done. Now we need to add some Disney mementos to our passport. You can stick anything into the red pocket such as Disney brochures, park tickets, park maps, airline tickets, etc.

To finish things off I wanted to add some ribbon. Either red or black ribbon would look great with this project. I decided to go with black sheer ribbon. I just wrapped it around my Disney passport and tied a bow in the center.

And once again here is the finished project.

I hope that you enjoyed my Disney Passport tutorial. Please visit my blog as I have more fun projects and giveaways to share with you all. My blog is Cokie Pop Paper. Hope to see you there!

Have a Creative Day!

MonAmour

I am so excited to be with you today.  It took me a while but I finally jumped on the Sentimental band wagon!  Pam kept telling me how wonderful this cart is, and I had the hardest time finding anything to start a layout with. Have you seen the peacock feathers! They are adorable and now we can make them in any color we want!
This was a hard layout for me to finish and probably a good one to share as I have too many comments that say 'you make it look so easy'. The fact of the matter is that we all must make quick decisions when we are making a project because often times what we plan in our heads doesn't always work in reality. With this layout I have rolled with the punches... or should I say made some bad choices and had to find my way out.
I am so excited as these two little one will be coming to stay with me the first week in July and we will be on vacation the second week in July. Preparing for guests and vacation has taken such a toll on me that I can hardly think anymore. Plus I must get things scheduled before leaving. I will probably get around to packing the night before I leave!
I had a few minutes at work so I just started doodling on these layout planning sheets that I got from Organized Scrapbooks.com. They sure aren't fancy like the ones we all follow that are all typed out complete with graphics, but it gave me the opportunity to think out what I wanted to do.
At first I was going to journal but since I wasn't there when the photos were taken and they are my granddaughters I just left it without.
I chose my papers and these gorgeous Primas that I had purchased on sale the last time I was in Chicago. And I even grabbed a lock and key in hopes I could work it in the layout. I love these colors but when it got down to it, one of these papers got dropped because all though they all match perfectly they didn't work well together.
I am hoping you can see these awesome papers I pulled from DCWV's Home Stack, K and Company and My Minds Eye Penny Lane stack as they are so nice and shimmery and the colors go perfectly with each other.
This is my layout on the gypsy and the file is available for your use if you want, just see at the end of the post.
I thought this is the layout to use my marker and after 2 years I finally opened the package and following Cheryl's (Cheryl's Window) perfect instructions from Busted on Friday. Sorry Cheryl, this goes to show you I don't follow instructions very well!!! LOL. I knew I could and would use them on this project to outline Mon Amour... WRONG! Oh they work BEAUTIFULLY but I learned that my choice of the turquoise and black just didn't go well with my layout so I scratched it. I am however going to reinforce the instructions because this is a must for you to try and add a few of my own. I will use this method over and over in the future.
This is what the marker looks like when you open it. Don't laugh, I had these markers for 2 years and never opened the package!
Cheryl reminded us to place paper under the blade/marker assembly as it could mark up the paper. It did.
See the mess I made. Mind you what she didn't say, that Sheila did is be careful as it is very easy to move the blade assembly when changing to the marker. If you do, that the marker will not line up!
After I cut I told my Gypsy Woman to return to design. I deleted all the items that I did not want to be written on. (REMEMBER DO NOT SAVE THIS)
I changed to the marker not realizing that I moved the blade assembly.... Above is what I got.
Try number 2 above. This time I accidentally hit the wrong button and unloaded the paper. I figured. I put it in the same way every time, so lets give it a try. WRONG, if you look closely you can see it is off and the cut lines and marker lines do not match up.
YEAH!!!  Try 3 is perfect it lines up beautifully.
But what I didn't realize is that the heading just fades and it really looks tacky. Even though it turned out perfect, I scratched it and reached for more paper. I want to say I LOVE the effect and it really is easy once you learn how to take the blade out and place the marker in. EASY, but like anything else we need to learn.
I took the scraps and laid my heading on the paper and you know I had to use the red. Look at how nice they look together and the read has a gold speckle in it to boot.
I cut the peacock feathers and the heading mat and went to work putting my layout together.
I inked the edges of my pieces, including the heading. I did not do the feathers or the butterflies.
Again, I am hoping you can see the shimmers in this paper, they are just amazing in person.
I added the feathers and flowers.
Here is a closeup of these awesome flowers on the sparkly shimmery paper.
This time I used the 1/2 inch glue dots instead of the pop dots as it gave dimension. but just enough to create a tiny shadow.
I added the little butterflies.
See how awesome the heading looks now.
These are my beautiful granddaughters Brianna on the left and our little Carissa on the right. It was a fun and easy layout once I got past my little challenges. I sure hope you enjoyed today's project and you come back each day to see new and creative projects. Mon Amour Gypsy File.
