3D Artiste Cartridge Greeting Card

Howdy!
Adrienne here, from Eagle Canyon Arts.  This is my first post for She's a Sassy Lady, and I am very pleased to be part of Sheila's great team of creative artists.  Sheila's Gypsy tutorials were instrumental in helping me learn to get the most out of my Gypsy machine.  Thanks, Shelia for the opportunity to contribute as a member of your team of wonderful crafters!

This project uses several Close To My Heart products including the exclusive CTMH Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The inspiration for this card comes from a video I found online.  The video takes you step-by-step through assembly of the card.

CTMH Supplies needed:

 1.  Cricut Artiste Cartridge (Z1790)
 2.  "Baroque Borders" Acrylix stamp (August 2012 S1208) note - since this was a stamp of the month, substitute another border stamp, such as "The Best Things" (C1503) if needed.
 3.  "Casual Expression - Occasions" Acrylix stamp (D1525)
 4.  "Scrapbook Statements Poets" Acrylix stamp (C1539)
 5.  "Family Love" Acrylix stamp (D1506)
 6.  Exclusive Inks - Desert Sand (Z2118)
 7.  Exclusive Inks -Twilight (Z2160)
 8.  4"x5" Acrylix stamp block (Y1012)
 9.  3"x3" Acrylix stamp block (Y1006)
10.  Sponge Daubers (Z726)
11.  Liquid Glass (Z679)
12.  Card stock - Desert Sand (1273)
13.  B&T Duos Paper - I used Florentine (X7153B) no longer available, sorry

Non-CTMH Supplies:

 14.  Base card - 4 1/4"x 5 1/2" or similar (in this case I did not use a CTMH product)
 15.  Adhesives of choice (ATG gun for card paper, glue dots for 3D decorations)
 16.  Cricut Gypsy machine (optional)
 17.  Cricut machine
 18.  Craft scoring board

To make the card:

 1.  Using your Gypsy (or inputting directly into your Cricut machine if you prefer), find the designs on the CTMH Cricut Artiste cartridge needed for this project:
      a.  Emblem - p. 63, "Card" setting - (row 4, column 3) height 2"
      b.  Double fan - p. 50, "3D" <s> setting - (row 2, column 10) height 1 1/2" (note - make TWO of these, as indicated in the cartridge workbook, in order to make a circular "fan")

Gypsy with pattern for 2 cards
Layout on mat, ready to cut. Note grid used to check paper is aligned properly.
2.  Cut card stock to allow for a 1/8" or 1/4" border on the front of the card, your choice - measure your card to determine the correct size for the card stock to be cut.
3.a.  Ink up border stamp with desert sand ink and apply to cut desert sand card stock.
    b.  Distress edges of card stock with desert sand ink using sponge dauber.
    c.  Affix card stock to front of card and distress edges of card front with  desert sand ink using sponge dauber.
When using a big stamp, I bring the ink TO the stamp, decreasing the potential for ink overlap on the acrylic block
Distress edges with desert sand ink
Distress card edges with desert sand ink
Whenever possible, I make TWO cards
4.  Ink up "Celebrate Today" stamp with desert sand ink, then QUICKLY roll edges ("Rock and Roll" method) with Twilight ink and apply to emblem cut out.  Doing this quickly prevents the first ink from "beading up" and looking "dotty" on the stamp.
Stamp on right shows ink "beading" - I was too slow!
5.a.  Fold 3D shape on fan folds.  Using a scoring mat and bone folder to LIGHTLY score the folds will help keep the folds straight and precise.  A little extra time to take this step will save having to re-cut the fan if folds do not turn out nicely when "free-folded".
Using a bone folder saves my fingers!
See - two little accordions!
   b.  Secure the ends of the two fans together using Liquid Glass (Z679).  It dries very quickly, so be careful to place the sections exactly where you want them and hold for about 10 seconds.
6.  When the fan has dried, place 3 or 4 glue dots on the face of the card and press the opened fan on to the front and center firmly, while at the same time being careful not to press down the folds of the fan.
 7.  Adhere more glue dots to the back of the emblem and place it firmly on the front of the fan.

8.  Two finished cards - front and inside.  One will be for a birthday, one for an anniversary.
The emblem on the right is centered - the photo just looks off center
Birthday sentiment from "Scrapbook Statements Poets"
Anniversary sentiment from "Family Love"
Thanks for joining me for this project.  If you have any questions, please send me a note.  Have a wonderful summer!

Fourth of July Flip-Flops!

Hi Everyone, It's Sonya from Sonya's Paper Trail today and I'd like to start off by wishing my fellow American crafters a very Happy Independence Day!   I wanted to create a card that was patriotic, but a bit funky and fun...and flip-flops seemed to be the perfect combination.

Check out my card for today:

The papers for this card are from a We R Memory Keepers 6 by 6 paper pad called, appropriately enough, "Red, White & Blue."  My wonderful neighbor gave this to me as a gift and I could hardly wait to put it to good use!  The flip-flops are from the Creative Memories Cheerful Seasons Cricut Cartridge and are cut at 3 inches.  The "USA" letters are from Base Camp, which is an older cartridge, but still one of my favorite font cartridges.

To add a bit of flair to my sandals, I pulled out some small Prima Flowers and adhered those to the toe strap with glue dots.  I used an adhesive gemstone for the center of the flower.

Here's a close up of the border I created.  I only have a couple of edge punches, but I sure get good use out of them.  This particular punch is by EK Success. Do you have a "go to" punch?  I'd love to hear your suggestions, perhaps I'll add another one to  my little collection.

That's all I have to share today...just a simply summer card that mixes a lot of patterned papers for a fun look.  Hope you like it!

Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Gemma

Hi everyone,

My name is Carol from Happy Expressions blog. I am very happy to be with here with you today. It's my turn to post on She's a Sassy Lady. Thank you Shelia for allowing me to join you today.

I love the stair step cards and today I have another one for you. I cut the stair step from Penny Duncan Creations free svg file. It is so nice to be able to cut any size. It also has the file for the DSP. I cut this one at 5.5x5.5. The DSP is from a Recollections stack. The digi is from Lacy Sunshine called Gemma Drop. She is so cute. I coloured her with copic markers. E00,000,21,31,33,35, YG61,63, BV01,02 N0. It needed a bit more for embellishments so I took my pencil and drew 2 more marshmellows using the two that Heather has beside Gemma as a pattern to follow.  I then popped them up with dimensional's. The sentiment is from Pink by Design stamp set. I will enter this card into these challenges.

Lacy Sunshine - always anything goes

Stamps - Lacy Sunshine Gemma, Pink by Design
Papers - Neenah card stock, Recollections DSP,
Ink - printer, copic, SU
Accessories - SU label punch retired, ribbon from stash,

Thank you all so much for stopping by, happy creating!

Sympathy Card

Good morning. Each week we share so many different cards for all occasions and all seem to be happy and joyous ones which is as it should be. Unfortunately we also need to make sympathy cards for those time in our lives when a loved one goes home to be with our Lord. I have used every sympathy card I have and decided to make a few that would be easy to make yet pretty enough to make you proud to send out.

This is how the finished card looks. As you can see it is very simple.... just one cut on my E2 and I had 9 decorative ovals cut from Elegant Edges at 3.75 inch height. The stamp is from Recollections and I actually borrowed from my friend Anita.

Now wasn't that easy. This video is from beginning to end with lots of small talk in between! I hope you don't mind me sharing my life with you....

Here is a close up of the front of the card.... as you can see I used scraps of patterned paper. I used CTMH Slate Ink Pad for everything I stamped. the With Sympathy is from The Stamps Of Life and the inside sentiment is from CTMH Sympathy set.

This is a close up of the front of the card. Those little Recollections flowers just add the finishing touch to the card.

I stamped the inside and the back with the same gray wool and it was so subtle it worked perfect for this card.

Another close up of the front of the card.... I added a little gem in the center of the cross.
I hope you enjoyed today's post. Please make some sympathy cards for yourself and keep them on hand as no one wants to stop and make them when they are actually needs as your hearts are to heavy.
Thank for for joining us today and for your sweet sweet words of encouragement. Your comments continue to inspire me to share with you. Have a blessed day!

4th of July Card

Hello and Happy July!!!

Lori here from Scrappin My Stress Away with a 4th of July card today.

I saw something similar on Pinterest and wanted to figure out how I could re-create it with my Silhouette Cameo.

Here is the LINK to the pin.

I am not a stamper so my card looks a bit different:

I am new to Cami (my cameo) and having a little trouble transferring my knowledge of Gypsy to Cami.....but I keep trying!!!

I found some images from the Silhouette Store that I wanted to use for my card.

I used a stars and stripes banner, statue of liberty silhouette and fireworks.  I left the word Fireworks!! and layers off the mat.

I used scrap cardstock in red, white and kraft brown to cut out the images.

Here is one example of me most likely doing this the hard way:  I ungrouped the banner image and carefully drug each inside cut off the mat in order to create a white background banner.  With Gypsy, you just hide contour.  With Cami each tiny piece is a piece once you ungroup.

Another example:  I just cut out two banners, one in red and one in blue as ungrouping and moving the tiny pieces off the mat was driving me crazy!!!

I cut out lady liberty in brown kraft paper and inked her up with shades of green.

I adhered a piece of silver carstock on top of my blue mat.  I taped twine and ribbon to the back of the blue cardstock before I adhered it to the front of the card.

I layered the fireworks on the card.  I added some silver stickles to the centers and edges.

I adhered the red and blue banner flags to white banner flags and pop dotted them on the twine.

I pop-dotted Lady Liberty in front of the fireworks.

Here is a side view of the pop-dots.

My card is different from the one I pinned, but I like the 3D  look better.

I hope you have a safe and Happy 4th of July for those of you who celebrate it!!!

Thank you Sheila for having me over today!!
