With Glittering eyes

Today I bring to you a card I made using a digi image from saturated canary which was called  Gypsy Dancer and is now called Zorana which I had got for my Suzanne J Dean's copic class.

Papers used were a blue cardstock and an yellow cardstock. I stamped the yellow CS with Anna Griffin background stamps roughly. Though they do tile perfectly I stamped them somewhat imperfectly. I colored the image using copics. I used MS punch to punch a white cardstock for layering and used some pink CS for contrast and also a small cake doily behind the image. I had this purple cow craft geek wind it wire kit and used it to make a swirl. Then used some ribbon flower rose to embellish. I used a checkerboard ribbon and to give further contrast cut a blue card stock piece - the width of the card and stuck the ribbon in the middle.

 I love the quote by Roald Dahl - "And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”   

I  printed it and used that as sentiment.

SWAN GIFT BOX TUTORIAL (WITH CUT FILES)

Hello, friends!  It's Audrey and again it's that time of the month for me to happily be here with another DT project/tutorial.   As always thanks to Sheila for having me, and to you for visiting.  My project is a swan gift box:

 

I used my swan box as a towel holder and topper to a box of soap roses -- but, of course, it can be used separately for other small gifts.  I made the cutfile for this box using the Art Noveau and George cartridges (required for cutting files), and I've provided the .cut and gypsy file downloads at the end of this post below, if you're interested.

 

With that said, I began this box by cutting out the file:

 

 

Once cut, there is the box and 2 wings:

 

 

Please excuse my lines not being straight, however I wanted to provide you a picture schematic of the box folds which are indicated by the black lines:

 

 

These pictures show how the tabs (1) and swans (2) folds will look when bone folded:

Now it's time to glue the box together by gluing the side tabs on each end to the inside body of the swans:

 

 

Once glued, the box will look like the first picture below and the next picture will show where to place the wings (I used pop dots on my box so that the wings would have a 3-D effect):

 

 

The box is now basically done -- just needs to be decorated and filled as desired!

 

For my box, I glued the heads on each side of the box together, and the tails, to give it the look of being one swan; for texture and to give the appearance of feathers, I added dimensional paint.  I finished the effects by adding eyes and highlighting the box with Stickles. Click on the picture for a close-up of these effects: 

 

 

 

My final embellishing was to add a ribbon bow and silk roses at the bottom of the box to complement the rose soaps

Back to School

Hi scrappers.  This is Kate from Sassy and Scrappy and this month I'm sharing a back to school project.  I like to put something together for my nephew to take to his class and this year I found a crayon box and thought it would be perfect for a little treat.

This is a picture of the box before it's folded.  I used the tools in Silhouette software to change the size of the box for my needs.  I cut a few samples before finding the right size.   

Look at all these fun colors!  I love using a variety of colors and patterns for elementary school age children.

Next I stamped "first day of school" on white card stock and then used a scallop punch which I adhered on some brown card stock.  Punches come in really handy for projects where you're making multiples of an item.  For this project I made 30 treat boxes.  I don't know exactly how many kids are in my nephew's class this year, so I prefer to make more than I think I'll need.

To finish the box I wrapped some ribbon around them and adhered the badges.  Inside of each box is a mini fruit rollup and sticker.

When it comes to school projects my goal is to keep it simple.  I do this for a couple reasons, the first is because I have to make so many.  And secondly, second graders aren't going to really appreciate time, energy or perfection.  So, it's just not worth stressing out...they just want the treat inside anyway!

Making Pages With Many Photos Can Be Challenging

Recently I made a quick trip to Chicago. Hubby and I only had the weekend to spend and we used our time wisely. The first day was spent with friends for their 50th wedding anniversary. But the photos you are seeing is with family! And I had to use all the photos because that was what was important to me. We had such a lovely day together. After church we had lunch and then a leisurely afternoon just playing around and visiting... it was wonderful and I cherish this day. But how to scrap them was a challenge as we did everything and nothing all in one beautiful day.

Fortunately with Close To My Heart's Studio J digital scrapbooking program it made it easy. All I had to do was upload the photos I wanted, choose the paper and then pick a layout. From there all I did was drag the photo into the little photo box and type my journal entry. In less than an hour this page was complete! I love it.

Look at these precious faces I love each and every photo I took and I didn't have to leave any out, isn't that wonderful? Studio J made it easy and it is so afforable to print. A 5 Pak is 5 double pages and it is only $39.95! You can't beat that and the quality is wonderful, I just love how each and every picture turns out beautiful! And it is great for times like this in my life where I have no time to stop and scrap the traditional way yet I don't want to get behind in my pages! Yup, I just love this option for my current lifestyle.

Nieces Are Nice Layout

Happy Labor Day!!  Lori here from ScrappinMyStressAway today with a spunky layout of my nieces.

I love welding with my Gypsy and really wanted to make a unique background for this picture of Sophie and Sabryna.  I took random words that describe these two sisters and used a variety of fonts and cartridges to create my background.

I am not sure if this is subway art or not, but I have fun making backgrounds like this.  I added some hearts (George) and ready made words (Giggle, Whatever, Splish Splash, Dance and Diva) and created the rest.  Sophie shows horses and Sabryna has always loved piggies.  I think they are beautiful and made sure the picture was just under that word!

Here are the carts I used:  A Child's Year, Birthday Bash, George, Graphically Speaking, Hannah Montana, Home Accent, Home Decor, Mother's Day Bouquet, Rock Princess, Shall We Dance, Varsity Letter and Wall Decor and More.

I usually open a 12x24 mat and put all of my words on the right side initially.  I size them and place them on the left side until all the spaces are filled.  Then I re-size my mat (from the main menu) back to 12x12.  I weld everything together and cut.  I used blue cardstock and carefully mounted it to a light blue cardstock trimmed to 11.75" square.  I mounted the light blue cardstock to the same color blue cardstock I used for the word mesh.

I used Mother's Day Bouquet to make these flowers.  I sized the small ones at 0.73 inches and the bigger ones at 1.12 inches.  I cut them out of pink cardstock and added a pearl to the center.

My sister-in-law took this photo of the girls on picture day last year.  I used mostly blue to match their clothes, but if you look closely you can see the pink flowers in the bush behind them.  That was all I needed for my accent color.

What a fun layout of my nieces.  This one just might be going in a frame for a while!!

Tri-Fold Card Revisited

Good day!  Do to a family emergency I am re-running this  post. Hopefully I will be back next week with a new project. Prayers are welcomed. 

Time to join me for Gypsy Made Simple where we learn to make all types of projects. This is such a fun little card to make and is sure to put a smile on the recipients face. I used my 3 Fold template and then added the artwork from Create A Critter. Now if you don't have that cart just use any cart you like to make a card. Now grab a cup of coffee, turn on your Gypsy, download this TEMPLATE, and let's get to work. Note the template is made from George. If you don't have that cart you will need to make your own base by making your own from a cart you have.

Now follow along as I take you step by step in the process of designing this card. Remember work with the page that says Empty and that you are looking at the INSIDE of the card. That is important as you will flip your art used on the base only and you will place your paper on the mat accordingly (front down, inside up).

Now that you have your card cut you can easily see how it gets put together. Make sure you score where the sections meet, and take the time to make all your pieces are inked and accentuated before you lay them down. Also make sure you do not use pop dots or foam tape on the inside section as you want your card to lay flat.

Look at the little heart in the word smile, I used a white gel pen and then added glitter so the card would have a little bling on it.

Again I used the gel pen to ad a little motion to my puppy... isn't he just too cute?

I used my Close To My Heart Olive ink pad on the roof line and around the edges of my sentiment area. Then I just added a few dots on the house to make it pop.

This is how the card looks when it is standing.... isn't it just too cute.

Here is a photo of both of the cards together. I was amazed at how fast they actually came together.
