Lora is 1!

Hi everyone!! This is Java Jen from JAVA JEN CREATIONS to share a quick post showing something I made for our granddaughter's 1st Birthday! I made a Birthday Statistics Board using a chalkboard and vinyl! I will definitely be making more of these! So much fun! Thank you, Sheila, for the opportunity to share this!

The stats were written with a permanent chalk marker but could also be written with regular chalk so that it would be able to be erased. 

And here she is in all her beauty!! <3 <3 We love her so much!!

My Mojo Monday Entry

Hello, I hope you like this card, I had so much fun doing it. It is the first time I did a sketch from Mojo Monday and I must say it was so much fun. Usually I have an idea of what I wanted to do and this time I went blank! What a scarey feeling when you have a card party right around the corner. Our party is on February 6th and I am so excited as we are not having it in one of our homes but at May May Made Its new craft store. There are going to be 11 of us ladies so you know we will have a blast! I am going to try to take some video so you can see what one of our parties look like and we can take a sneak peek at May May's place.

Now wasn't that fun and so easy when we put it on our Explorer. The machine does all the work all we have to do is pick out the paper, cut and put together.

I wanted you to see this fabulous paper and the stamp. I do believe Anita gave me this stamp at the last party and I have been looking forward to using it.

See how easy this was to put together/I was so busy sharing with you I didn't even look at the time.... sorry.

I used stickles and liquid glass on the flower and it really gave it a nice effect. Note I did not do that on all cards, I stickled all.

Here is the flowers all stickled these are wet now.

Winter Birthday

Good morning - Adrienne from Eagle Canyon Arts.  It's always a pleasure to be a part of Sheila's talented Sassy Lady design team.  Thank you, Sheila.

Happy New Year to everyone!  Here's hoping the holidays were filled with good things and good times spent making good memories.

This card was fun and easy to make.  I like it because it's perfect for a winter and holiday season birthday.  Which is exactly why it was a lovely card for our daughter!

Close To My Heart supplies used:

"Lovely Lily" Stamp - B1401 (retired) - front sentiment
"Joyful Birthday" Stamp - B1419 - inside sentiment
"Always Grateful" Stamp - C1559 - Trees
Ponderosa Pine Ink (retired - use Topiary Z2155 or New England Ivy Z2135)
Brown Glitter Paper (retired - use Gold Z3076 or Green Z1847)
Brown Opaques (retired, use Brown and Tan Sparkles Z1753)
Liquid Glass - Z679
Colonial White Cardstock - 1388
Colonial White Cards and Envelopes - X1410

Colonial white cardstock was cut at 4" x 5 1/4" and stamped with trees alternating 1st and 2nd generation stamping.  Another colonial white cardstock piece was stamped with the front sentiment and applied to the glitter paper with liquid glass.  It's important to use liquid glass when applying the cardstock to the glitter paper as many ordinary adhesives will not work.

Add sentiment to the inside of the card.  Embellish the front as desired (sounds like a recipe - "garnish for presentation", doesn't it?).  I used Brown Opaques, which are no longer available, so I suggest using Brown and Tan Sparkles, which come in assorted sizes, 108 to a package.

This card also works well as a plain note card, greeting card, thank you card or just about any other application.  I really like the tree motif.  If you have any questions about this project, send me a note.  Thanks for following along!

A Quick Sympathy Card

Good morning. We had some bad news yesterday. My son-in-law lost his father after years of battling with cancer. And I am out of Sympathy cards. So I turned on my Explore which I haven't touched in 3 weeks do to out of town company and Christmas. First I went to design space and found a great little card that I figured would be a piece of cake. Below you will find a copy of the video I used to design with.

This video was a little more detailed. As you can see I ran into a little trouble with this card. First I chose the wrong paper as it was white core double sided from DCWV Linen Stack. Then I guess  I didn't have the scoring tool in properly as it hardly scored and I actually ripped the fold. Lastly I though I made the With Sympathy to large for the space so I didn't use it. This video will teach you areas I went wrong in and how to do it better.

Well as I have always done I made 2 cards. After inking with the Juniper ink from Close To My Heart you can hardly tell where the problem is.

Memory Jar

Happy 2016 Sassy People!!

I am honored to be the first person from our talented team to wish you all a Happy New Year! May it be a year of creativity, joy, peace, love, prosperity, and favor. I know the team has some exciting projects to share. I suggest you come back often to be inspired!

I have to admit, 2015 was a very challenging year. I personally am happy to see it come to an end and I am excited to see what 2016 brings! I most certainly believe the latter will be greater than the last!

Today’s project was inspired by a Facebook post I saw. It suggested writing down different events and placing them in a jar. At the end of the year, the participant will read them as a way to reflect on the year. As mentioned, 2015 was a trying year. I am guilty of not always seeing the silver lining during those difficult times. I am sure I am not the only one. Instead of waiting to the end of the year, whenever I forget to see how blessed I am or how many prayers has been answered, I think it would be good for me to go in the jar and read them. There is nothing wrong with having a reminder right?

For this project, you can use whatever you have on hand. I used a mason jar from the Dollar Store, but you can use an old box, create a box or an old piggy bank. You can dress it up, leave it plain…whatever you want. The point of this is to reflect! There is nothing like starting the year off the right way!!

I took out the inner lid and dressed up the outer lid with trim. I also added trim to the bottom of the jar. I had some sticky notes. To make this easier, I punched a hole and placed it on the jar with a pen attached. On the note, it is important to notate the date and the event. I also would like to take this a step further and add those special answered prayers, testimonies, and blessings in a separate book. Stay tuned for that (wink, wink)!

I really do hope this inspired you to do something similar. As I said, sometimes it is hard to see the blessings when you go through. This is a good way to be reminded just how blessed we are…my first note will be WE MADE IT TO SEE 2016!! Kenya~
