Chevrons

Hi! and Welcome to She's A Sassy Lady | Gaby here with some Chevrons!
Chevrons or Zigzags are one of the most currently utilized designs.  You find them in clothing, furnishings and of course Scrapbooks and Card making.
Crafters are using chevrons and zigzags to design/embellish their cards and layouts whether using a die cutting machine, punches, dies, cutting by hand or stamping them.

Last year Juliana Michaels shared her research on the difference between a chevron and a zigzag HERE if you are interested.

Nancy, a DT member over at the Basic Grey blog recently shared this tutorial/chevron technique HERE
Julia Stainton has created a video tutorial that she calls "folded chevron's technique" HERE

Below are some of the items available to crafters when wanting to incorporate chevrons/zigzags into their projects:
Punches:

EK Success ZigZag chain Slim Edger Punch
Silhouette Online Store:
I found more then 50 files available, but here are a couple.

Cricut Cartridges:

 Cricut Essentials-E2
Plantin Schoolbook
Dies:

MyFavoriteThings chevron dies
Lifestyle Chevrons
Stamps:
There are several if not many of each above mentioned items available from different manufacturers.

I chose to use Julia Stainton  "folded chevron's technique" to create the chevrons I wanted to use on my layout.

Julia's technique basically asked for a two inch ht. PP by however long/wide you want it to be in intervals of two (here I used a 12" long PP per her tutorial).  I marked on the back of the PP a line across the middle length wise followed by marking every inch from middle to top and from middle to bottom (every other inch).  Next step is to cut each and every top and bottom line marked.  Final step is to fold the paper!  Julia finished her chevrons by stitching on both top and bottom of her chevron's, I just stitched at the bottom (I think I like hers better -next time!).

And for today I created this simple card using the Lifestyle/QuiKutz Chevron/Zigzag die above.
Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment.  If you have any questions, you can leave me a message/comment here or at www.gabycreates.com

The zig zag using bright plain paper really looks great. The patterned paper used in the l/o looks lovely too. Just goes to show you that there is more than one way of doing things.

Great post! I love all of the information. I think this is kind of a "comfort food" post for me because my mom made most of my clothes and she used lots of rick rack! I am sooo smiling. Thank you.
