Not Your Average Layout

Happy New Year scrappers, this is Kate from Sassy and Scrappy. I'm so happy to be here with you all today. I have a really simple, fun layout to share with you. This December was incredibly busy and somewhat overwhelming, but really special and miraculous as well.

Now that the holidays are over and life is getting back on track I have a lot of scrapbooking to catch up on, so I decided I'm going to take it easy on myself. I purchased some divided page protectors from American Crafts, which you can see here. This is my first time using them and I have to tell you it was a lot of fun and so easy.

I started by printing three 4x6 photos. Using my Silhouette Cameo I cut a title and accents for my page. As a side note, I love my Cameo! I use thick cardstock, primarily Papertrey Ink, and it cuts beautifully, even thin details like you can see in the picture below.

I added some color mist to my cardstock. You should know, I make a big mess if I spray the paper while it's on my desk, so now I have a designated "misting" box.

It's a little difficult to tell from the picture below but I tested out where I wanted to adhere embellishments by placing the photos/paper in the pocket and then laying stickers, buttons, etc to the plastic. I also added stick pins to the layout by pushing them into dimensional adhesive. You can see that in the bottom right of the picture below.

A couple close-ups of my layout.

The Details:
  • Pattern Paper: October Afternoon 'Sidewalks'
  • Cardstock: Papertrey Ink
  • Silhouette Cameo: images from Silhouette online store
  • Stickers: October Afternoon
  • Star Stick Pins: Maya Road
  • Stamp: Technique Tuesday 'It's Ok'
  • White Embossing Powder-Stampendous
  • Sprinkler/Mist-October Afternoon 'Brown Bag'
  • Buttons: My Mind's Eye "Lost and Found"
  • Twine: The Twinery
  • Border Punch: Fiskars 'Apron Lace'
  • White Gel Pen
If you're looking for permission, I'm going to give it to you now...go easy on yourself. I love traditional 12x12 layouts, but I will admit, they take time. Allowing myself to use one of these divided page protectors saved me time, and right now that's important to me.

Thank you so much for allowing me to share with you today. I hope to see you back here soon!

The Cameo cuts everything so well! It's for that reasons that I wish I had a Cameo too. I love the divided page protectors. I haven't used them yet (I have the We R ones), but I know it'll be easier to organized a ton of photos since I can never choose just one or two that I like. Thanks for the inspiration!

LOVE this layout page! Love that circle with "love this face" welded inside (my brain is spinning right now with possibilities)! What a great way to use a photo sleeve page as a layout!

This is an awesome lo!!! I have been wanting to do this for a while now to help catch me up. I will have to check into it further and get me some of these pages! I didn't even notice that your lo wasn't a "real" lo until you said so. lol It looks like a "real" lo and that is all my eye saw! So these are perfect to use to help catch up or for those pics you don't want to do a lot of embellishing on!!! I also love how you did your stick pins, so awesome!!!

I have used these before and it is a wonderful way to save time and it looks absolutely beautiful! The main thing is we get the photos in the books and tell what was happening in them. I figure it is always a bonus when they look this nice. Thanks for sharing with us today.

This is a beautiful layout for SO many fabulous reasons - but mostly the moment! I love pages that really capture a fabulous moment and you've done it! Wonderful!

I like how you put the stars on wire and then used pop dots!

Hi Kate, first of all Congratulations on the baby!!!
I too own cutting machines from both Provo Craft and Silhouette America (I noticed you were spritzing on a Cricut Circle box [had me in stitches!] and love how the SD and Cameo cut with precision such small intricate cuts).
This year I will be attempting my version of project life which uses these sheet protectors.. in addition to creating regular layout!
Keep enjoying the baby and TFS!
